Has a coach ever been sacked before a final? Genuinely nothing to lose

Who was that who he didnt pick ?

Not much that didnt get picked today that id say was a giant miss or loss im afraid apart from the injured guys
Byrne-Jones has been our second best small forward by a mile all year. Averaging over a goal a game and top 10 in the league for goal assists. The worst finals coach of all time decided moving him down back where he was ****ing terrible and playing the triumvirate of useless that is McEntee/Evans/Narkle up forward instead was a better idea.

Who should have played defense in DBJs spot ? Cant see any clear candidates myself. Issue is outside the top 30 you got a heap of untried nothings in Lorenz, Maccallum, Jackson, K.Marshall, Charleson, Anastapooulos, Scully, and on top of that a few injuries which means you rely on the aforementioned potatoes. Club needs to build some depth outside the top 30 so Evans aint playing

You said everyone but the most obvious guy, Josh Sinn.

The giant list mistake is the amount they invested in Soldo/Ratugolea/Zerk-Thatcher who combined have contributed absolutely nothing also. First 2 should be traded elsewhere already and Zerk-Thatcher to me isnt much better then Clurey or a random dude running around in the 2nds elsewhere who would have been free.

Alot of picks and money invested on very little

And do you know why we did that? Desperation, because we haven't developed any talls for ten years.

And do you know who's responsible for us not having developed any talls for ten years? The coaches.

Who did they fail to develop? I think the club just hasnt had the picks to bring the better talls in. Alot of draft capital also spent on JHF/Alir/Burton/Rioli and the like made it hard at draft time to fix any issues also

Soldo/Esava/Zerk Thatcher are bad choices but in JHF/Alir/Willie and trading Wingard when you did, i feel you got more wins then losses on the trade front still

I really feel for the mental health of Kenny. He got emotional after saint game.

He loves his players so much. But they let him down badly.

He's taking full brunt of angry

I have always said, and continue to firmly believe, Ken Hinkley has NEVER had the cattle to win a flag at Port Adelaide and has actually managed to draw decent results from a list that has ranged from average to above average for his entire tenure.
People say this shit to defend crap coaches all the time

Why is it in your delusional mind that those exact same lists of 'cattle' are good enough to deliver consistent top 3 finishes in the home and away season?

If Port's 'cattle' wasn't good enough we'd be down the bottom of the ladder with you degenerates. You don't finish top 3 four times in five years if you're not good enough. A good coach would be able to get that list to continue to play at their best come finals. Ken Hinkley is not a good coach.

Top 10 just aren’t built for finals football fundamentally, especially the main midfield 3. Rozee/Butters/Drew can’t adjust. All 3 become sloppy custard during finals and teams just frontrun the other way against a trio who need to win the ball to be effective

In finals also your bottom 4 gets found out more I also feel Port do better against the bottom 8 teams then anyone else also that helps the top 4 finishes

They finished second!

How do you reconcile home and away success with finals failures? To win a grand final, they have to win any final first.

Did you know that less than half of the players who played tonight played in the equally embarrassing Bulldogs prelim capitulation of 2021?

Sure is unlucky poor old Kenny that our list managers have somehow managed to deliver him two almost completely different teams made up of players who are excellent in the H&A season but fold in finals. Must just be a coincidence, nothing to do with him at all. Anyway I'm off tomorrow for my first day of remedial pattern recognition lessons, I'm guessing I'll see you there?

Yep
And then in their next breath say there's nobody out there "experienced" enough for the job
Right? Truly both idiotic comments. And there's just no way, after 12 years in the job, he has no say as to what the list looks like. If the list has holes in it, he isn't absolved of culpability for that just "because" - that's ridiculous
