Can Port win a premiership under Ken Hinkley?

I’ve always been a fan of Hinkley and am even more so after the 2024 H&A.
He’s always remained steadfast in his coaching beliefs, stayed the course under intense scrutiny and pressure and continued to remained cool.
Sometimes one game sticks out in defining seasons but last weeks Freo win was an absolute Ripper ……… I see something special brewing this year.

...that is literally what is happening, why are you so upset about it? he's literally unable to see the game properly from the bench in his new role and doesn't even wear a headset lol, he's never been able to make tactical changes on-the-fly so they let the coaches that can do that do that in the box while he cheerleads which is his strength.
Because it’s a load of rubbish. He’s the senior coach. If Carr gets credited for this flag it will be an absolute joke

Ken can't be that bad.
Actually, I think he might be quite good. They are playing very well.
A flag though, it really hinges on that. He will be ultimately ranked up or down on that. So, he's still a show to get that rarefied title "premiership coach". And if he does, wowee, history, opinions and events will certainly undergo a grand rewrite and rewash.

Hinkley is like Bevo a good coach, but all fans want a flag every year.
Kenny is the opposite of Bevo. Good H&A coach, shit finals coach. Bevo is a shit H&A coach but somehow gets his teams up to win finals they have no right to win every time they make it. In a competition that values premierships above all else, one of those is clearly more valuable than the other.

Hinkley took over the coaching reigns at Port towards the end of 2012 when they were 14th on the ladder with 5 wins for the season. Since then, this has happened over the following 12 seasons:

2013: 7th (12-10) - Semi Final
2014: 5th (14-8) - Prelim Final

2015: 9th (12-10)
2016: 10th (10-12)
2017: 5th (14-8) - Elim Final
2018: 10th (12-10)
2019: 10th (11-11)
2020: 1st (14-3) - Prelim Final
2021: 2nd (17-5) - Prelim Final

2022: 11th (10-12)
2023: 3rd (17-6) - Semi Final
2024: 2nd (16-7) - TBA

Hinkley has coached Port to 7 finals series in 12 years. 4 of which were top 4 finishes for Port. There's only been 2/12 seasons in which Ken Hinkley has coached Port to a losing record (2016 & 2022) and both included double digit wins for the season. It's a pretty solid coaching record, but the one glaring deficiency is not making a GF. Perhaps that changes this year.

LOL

As if you care about people "repeating themselves". You're one of the top contributors - one of the so-called "heroes" over on the toxic echo chamber that is the Port Adelaide board who have been stuck on repeat for the past 5 years in the 11 "Sack Hinkley" threads. :thumbsupv1:

Sack Hinkley 1 ... May 2019... 10,000 posts

Sack Hinkley 10...Oct 2023...... 9,995 posts
Sack Hinkley 11...Jun 2024...... 8,461 posts

A total of 107,991 posts and counting... and I bet you've read every single post.

I've read some of them. Not a lot of variety. Basically, the same whining, bellyaching, memes and tired gags being rehashed over and over. (This doesn't even doesn't include the thousands of "sack Hinkley" posts made in all the match threads and other various random threads.)

Bearing in mind, the vast majority of these "Sack Hinkley" posts have come at a time when Port has consistently put themselves in premiership contention. :rolleyesv1:

Allow me to repeat myself once again:

Year..... W/L........%.......Pos... Finals
2024... 15-7.... 114.2... 2nd ..???
2023... 17-6.... 112.8... 3rd... L L - -
2022... 10-12.. 110.7... 11th
2021... 17-5.... 126.3... 2nd...W - L -
2020... 14-3.... 136.4... 1st... W - L -

Hinkley is actually doing his job more effectively than ever... But he has been there "long enough" and has "failed to deliver" say the haters. Therefore, he must go.
You're repeating yourself.

I think Ken Hinkley can actually do it if they pass the Cats. I reckon Port can face the Swans or Giants in the GF. Hinkley deserves COTY in my opinion maybe even in the top 3. The midfield they have is very damaging and if Rozee Butters and JHF can all link up and get on the scoreboard from their clearances it would be very hard to stop them.

If they make the GF they also get Houston back as well (i’m pretty sure) that will also be a threat, increasing their energy and ball movement from the halfback with Farrell

Port are so bad on paper Ken is a genuis to have them competing. JHF is a superstar, Butters and Rozee can have great games and also go missing. Apart from that what do they have? Solid backline, awful forward line.

If Port win a premiership half their team will go straight to the top of those "worst player to win a flag?" threads. Ken should be more appreciated.

What do you mean?

What do you mean?
He just counted poorly, there is no way Houston plays again this year.

4 games left on his suspension and only a max of 4 games in finals.

Bit embarrassing to lose to such a bad team at home in the last round to miss out on finals 😂. Enjoy your September buddy 👍

Straight sets again.

Surely Josh Carr doesn’t have to wait another year now.
