Mate when I ran that 7k time I was 191 cms and 95kgs, try again.

Being able to run is only one part of being an AFL footballer, there are a hell of a lot of good runners out there, you can train yourself to run but not many can kick, weave, mark and take hits. Endurance running is probably the easist part of the package as conditioning can improve it, rest you have to be born with.
 
Pretty damn good time for a footballer. I'm sure there are many footballers who if they took up track and field instead could beat this time quite easily...it's all about training.

I just went for a run and after the first 2kms i swear my liver or kidneys or somethin was gunna drop outta me..i really really REALLY need this pre-season.
Put on a healthy layer of blubber over winter because of stupid shin-splints.

What did you do to help these? I had them all last season during pre-season and games. I found it is painfull for half a session (half an hour or so) than you dont really feel it after that but it is still annoying.

I'm wondering if that 10kms was a loop circuit because if it was then it makes no difference if it was hilly. Basically what goes up must come down and if you are traveling in a loop then you are going uphill the equal to the time you are going downhill which is the same as if you were spending the whole time on a flat course.

Anyway lets just chalk this up as another instance where maths proves common sense is just that, common and not right.


What a load of crap! An up and down course that evens itself out is not the same as a flat course???? So if the first 200m of a running track was uphill and the second half was downhill, world class athletes would be running the same times? I DON'T THINK SO!!! :confused:

Im pretty darn happy with that considering ive been sitting on my ass for the last 10 weeks since the season finished. Super effort by judd though.

Btw, wish everyone would stop talking about what they could do, and in their peak and all this rubbish and just talk about what they CAN do.

Marathon runners have slow release tendons, sprinters have fast release tendons.

That is why one is better at one than the other.

Not only that, sprinters are much bigger than Marathon runners, they are too bulky for Marathon running, not only that the training and conditioning sprinters do is suited to sprinting not marathon running. Am I losing you yet, maybe I can get a picture book for you?

So to recap, Usain Bolt is too big, too bulky, does the wrong training and has the wrong type of muscle tendons in his legs to be an Olympic champion marathon runner.

Oh wait, better at some smilies :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: Oh and I know you were being sarcastic, but the other guy wasn't.

think you mean fast and slow twitch muscles....
 
My mate did the 3km time trial at the camperdown football club preseason last year in 10.25 as a 17 year old.
note; this was the first night of pre-season to test what levels of fitness everyone was at.
i only managed 11.45 but oh well ,
he run the 800 in under 2 minutes which i reckon in pretty quick.
but yes. 3km=10.25

Haha. Very gullible.

If you actually fast forward the beep test and START at level 18 you will find that you still can not keep up - it is just too fast.

So level 21, after doing 20 levels beforehand, is utter BULLSHIT

Craig Mottram ran the Tan last year in 10.08. The Tan is 3.8km and has the Anderson st hill to boot. Apparently he did it with the Richmond footballers and beat them home by 2 and a half minutes.
FWIW I ran the Tan in 11.30 (20 years ago) But I was specifically training for middle distance running and was about 72kilos.
Judd's time is pretty good for a footballer who is carrying a fair bit of muscle mass but not close to the standard of elite runners.

Well said. Judd has the required endurance for afl. Trying to incorporate explovsivness into that is whats more difficult.
