Simply put, Owies is worth something. Motlop is not.

We need draft picks to use or trade, getting rid of Motlop doesn't provide that while Owies might.

No chance this is why. He wants too much money and was told to take it elsewhere. Its pretty clear the moves are about clearing salary cap space as opposed to improving the list.

Hope i don't get blasted for being an opposition supporter but always felt that your lists spine is strong it just needs the other B grade Talent to fill in the gaps?

Think that's spot on. Issue is a few of our B graders like Kennedy, Owies, Young etc don't compliment our spine.

Our spine players a big contested beasts and our B graders are also big contested beasts, just not as good. We need to rejig the list so that more of our B graders are players that bring some run and class rather than more of the same.

Very similar to where Melbourne was positioned before 2021 when they picked up Langdon, Rivers, Sparrow, Pickett etc over a couple of years to give them some more run and carry to compliment Oliver, Trac, Viney etc.

If that was the case we'd be pushing Williams and Mcgovern out the door who are on far larger contracts than Owies, Kennedy and Young.

No one would touch Williams with a 250m foot pole. McGovern too important also when you got 2 tall defenders total on your list

So as I said, if it was purely salary related we wouldn't be moving on Kennedy, Young and Owies before Williams and McGovern.

Clearly we're looking to extract some value from said players rather than just clearing cap space

Everytime I watch the our two side play I can’t help but think we have everything you need and you have everything we need.

You have the strong spine the A grade talent where you need it and we have an abundance of B Graders
