He averaged approx 7 disposals per game, and even less marks. His potential must be HUGE:thumbsu: Reminds me of Saddington, that hack we sent to Carlton, but Sadds is better!

saddington was not a hack just another in list players rodney eade has left in ruins.

he should have been a tall running wingman.

instead he was a skinny C/H/B pushed around bruised and battered by the big forwards.

i'm sure it played on him mentally as well.

EADE = DUDORAMA :thumbsdown:

Kennedy doesn't have the impact Cloke does. Simple.

different roles within the team and different amounts of game time.

Kennedy was forced into the ruck for a large part of the year due to the incompetence of ackland.

At one stage of the year (under pagans game plan), approximately 90% of forward 50 entries were directed to Fev (stat from an article)

Its a lot harder to establish yourself as a key forward and make an impact there if you arent being played in that role, and if the ball is consistently kicked to just one player.

Yeh, coz the majority of Collingwood's forward thrusts aren't directed at Rocca

actually they arent - though nice of you to know how your team plays.

When the stat was published on Fev and F50 entries, the next most targeted forward was brown (lions) some 15-25% behind (cant recall specific numbers)

I've watched the pies a few times on the telly and they definitely dont kick the ball to rocca 90% of the time - your midfielders are a lot more prepared to look for other leading options - be it davis, didak, rusling, cloke etc - if they are free. In blues matches, our unmarked forwards end up watching the ball sail over their heads towards Fev.

Going on the theory that Kennedy is a pick 4 with two years development so he is worth more than pick 4 now is a pretty weak arguement. We should try and get Luke Livingstone then, he is pick 4 with 7 years development so he must be a really good player by now...............

I dont mind Josh Kennedy at all and think he has a fair bit of potential however the way he is talked about on here in some circles you would think Carlton are giving up Jonathon Brown or something.

its not a random suggestion of kennedy's value - the valuation would be based on historical precedence.

brooks - drafted at 15, traded for pick 6 a year later despite not having played a game
watts - drafted at 14, played 5 games in 2 years and yielded pick 17 in the subsequent trade.

2 years is way too early to write off a player and provided the player has continued to develop they will hold their value (as evidenced from the above examples).

I'll be hurting if we have to give up Kennedy :(

As was posted earlier, since WC fans all seem to agree he's such rubbish, surely they'll take picks 3, 20, 36 instead?

You're almost guaranteed a star and a servicable player from those 3 picks.

In their first two years:
Josh Kennedy: 22 games, 7 disposals, 4 marks, 0.5 goals
Andrew Embley: 22 games, 8.5 disposals, 3 marks, 0.6 goals
Adam Hunter: 10 games, 6.6 disposals, 1.4 marks, 0 goals
Ashley Hansen: 26 games, 11 disposals, 5 marks, 1.2 goals
Quintin Lynch: 33 games, 10.5 disposals, 3 marks, 0.7 goals

The only one significantly better than Kennedy was Ashley Hansen - and he didn't debut till he was 21. Kennedy turns 21 at the end of next home and away season. He's a young KPP - needs time.

don't take Kennedy at your own risk. Has very big potential. Has already shown he can take a big, contested mark, and on multiple ocassions. Given his size and lanky frame, when he gets some bulk into him, he will be invaluable up forward and very damaging.

Hahahahah that is funny.

not going to argue with you as I dont follow the pies that closely - curious though, which one did he complete and why did he miss the other ones?

Not 100% sure, it is what I read on a Collingwood forum, but they mentioned that his first pre-season he was in Year 12 and doing VCE and I would guess that he was injured in the other one.

yr12/VCE would be during the season - unless he was injured he would definitely have done the preseason (november-feb) - schools out during that time.

Think the injury you refer to was the shoulder at the end of 06 - I've no idea how serious it was but if it impacted, it would have affected this years preseason

How can we take someone seriously who joined in 04 with the name blues for flag. What a joke.

Going by the logic here, Sellar is crap, Dowler is crap, Luenberger is crap, Hansen is crap, Gumbleton is crap, Mitch Clark is crap etc etc. Saying Kennedy is crap after 2 seasons and 1 pre season for a KPP big ban demonstrated the lack of footballing knowledge most have on here. He has a very impressive highlights package and for a man of 22 games thats saying something. I think the reality is though, most really know that Kennedy has a huge future ahead ofhim they just want Carlton to play a huge price for getting Judd because of their own jealousy of not getting him. I for one will be so disappointed to see Josh go he's our future forward line.

I never said he was crap. Just attempted to give a realistic analysis of where he would be on the Eagles depth chart. Sure, he could turn into the next Wayne Carey, but based on watching him, and just his general lack of pace and physical presence (which guys like Mitch Clarke, Gumbleton etc seem to have), it doesn't look like he will be in the Eagles 22 and a bit of a way behind others. With improvement he may get there, but I look at what Mitch Brown did in game 1 of the season (and yes only one game I know) and can't really recall any situation where Kennedy played a game like that in his two seasons.

No, Leunberger and Mitch Clarke especially have shown great glimpses in games. The problem with Kennedy is that he has shown nothing, that's right NOTHING, at all in any of his games.

I have looked at them. One is not even an AFL game. One is a regulation chest mark against Adelaide, so well done there. They are single incidents in single games. And none of it is that good anyway. So maybe come back to me when you've got something a bit better than that poor attempt.
