which way was M'Cveigh facing ? stop showing your complete and utter ignorance

Its gotta be hard for these sore swans losers, after all while u guys were bottoming out for the years near the bottom and paying the price for the salaryt cap cheats that like everybody else, u guys were sadly caught, well sydney enjoyed beating u guys alot of the time.
Its hard that the day has come where carlton is superior to swans as it used to be and has to be.
will be hard for alot of fans watching, actually stomaching the blues playing finals for a very long time, possibly premierships very soon.
SO THEY BLAME THE UMPIRES.
Kudos today, u guys are rising no doubt.:):):)

He was facing away, happens all the time at contests, not his fault Murphy ran directly into him while he was standing still. McVeigh put his arms out and Murphy just wrapped his arms around McVeigh. Then somehow he was rewarded a free for holding even though McVeigh had his arms outstretched?

Also, looks like Murphy has perfected the art of drawing frees by putting his head down and running directly into stationary opponents

Why are you sucking up to other posters, do you think hes gonna give you a BJ or something? Suck

And here I was thinking that the Essendon fans were the worst when making exuses and balmeing the umpires.

I suppose it's all the umpires fault for having the Swans down by 64 points 10 minutes into the last?

No excuses, Carlton were clearly the best team today and they won easily, end of story.

Im not 'balmeing' the umpires, I just thought they were biased and shit. We would have lost anyway Carlton were the better team on the day, especially Kruiser.

If you refuse to face the play and attempt to stop your opponents run at the contest then you will be penalised ..it's not rocket science ..but for morons it can bet a bit tough to understand .

I think his problem was that it happens a lot without penalty.
Certainly a lot of difference in the skill and pace of the contestants though ;)

This is very true.

This explains the interpretation very well. Umpires are under clear instructions to free kick players whose only intention is to block their opponent's attempt to participate in a contest. Complaining about such a decision demonstrates either a lack of knowledge of the game or sour grapes.

...and plenty of others that went unnoticed for the Swans, they umpire the team in front

Oh really Swans......how about being first ot the ball?

Could've been worse on the free kick side too if they paid the Simpson in the back and the Reid throw in the second quarter in the Carlton forward pocket. But hey, don't let that get in the way of a good old fashioned whinge.

This is just plain wrong. This incident happened right it front of me (insert clip of Adelaide supporter crying "Right in front of me"). Murphy did not run into McVeigh while he was standing still. As the umpire was about to restart the game they were both standing next to each other and I think it may have been O'Keefe creating a Murphy sandwich. O'keefe then moved away and McVeigh turned away look front on to Murphy to block his attempt at the restart. There was no running at all. Even the commentators agreed that it was a free kick. The only holding that Murphy was do was to try and get around McVeigh who was making zero attempt to play football. Your fictional story may sound great but that's all it is, fictional.

You will be proved wrong in 7 hours when the game analyser is available.

Yeah that evil Judd benefitting from a whole 1 free kick, you muppet

Not talking about frees he was paid. I'm talking about the countless incorrect disposals that weren't called. They've been letting it go all year, except today the umpires decided to come down on it for everybody (both sides) except Judd. He was let do as he please, despite being the worst offender.

Some average umpiring benefiting both teams at stages, but seriously sooking about umpiring after being completely outplayed when it mattered just reeks of the sourest grapes.

I'm not whinging. Shit happens, and it would be an understatement to say it didn't affect the final result. We played like absolute shit, Carlton did what they do. I can tell you, I was swearing at the TV today, but it wasn't directed at the umpires.

I just hope that people take note and realise that the Swans get shafted as much as, if not more, than they get helped.

I understand that but considering the free was paid for 'holding' when McVeigh clearly was not holding, had his arms outstretched while Murphy was holding onto him, it makes it a completely wrong decision.

Surely even morons can understand that?

Actually the umpires let several of these go for players of both teams, but on the one occasion Judd did not hold the ball in & force a ball up, he got penalised for letting the ball go. One of very few that were free-kicked during the game.

I beg to differ. Early on frees were flying everywhere for incorrect disposal, and yet Judd had several of his "knocks to advantage" in the contest that the commentators were jizzing over, which were also incorrect disposal.

There has been a tendency for umpires to let those go this year, as has been noted many times, but today the really clamped down on it early, except for Judd.

Don't get me wrong, I rate Judd hugely. Some people think he's gone down-hill since going to Carlton, I think he's stepped up. He's just more inside so less noticeable. But today, he was allowed to get the ball forward by any means necessary.

I reiterate, it certainly didn't effect the outcome, the Swans were never in the hunt. It was a pathetic effort from us, and a great effort from Carlton. But the Swans aren't systematically favoured by the umpires as so many seem to think we are.

Some people need to learn the rules before you incorrectly criticise the umpires. If you are tackled before you have had prior opportunity to correctly dispose of the ball then you need to at the very least attempt to get rid of the ball. If in attempting to correctly dispose of the ball, the ball 'comes out', then it is play on. If you have had prior opportunity to get rid of it then you need to correctly execute a handpass or kick.

In most instances today Judd was tackled as he was gaining possession (most likely at a stoppage). This should have and was correctly interpreted as having NO prior opportunity. Therefore as long as he is making an attempt to get rid of it it will be play on.

For everyone's education refer to bolded area of 15.2.3 (b)

15.2.3 holding the football — Prior opportunity/No
Prior opportunity
Where the field Umpire is satisfied that a Player in possession
of the football:
(a) has had a prior opportunity to dispose of the football, the
field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player
if the Player does not Kick or Handball the football
immediately when they are Correctly Tackled; or
(b) has not had a prior opportunity to dispose of the football, the
field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if,
upon being Correctly Tackled, the Player does not Correctly
Dispose or attempt to Correctly Dispose of the football after
being given a reasonable opportunity to do so.

(c) Except in the instance of a poor bounce or throw, a Player
who takes possession of the football while contesting a
bounce or throw by a field Umpire or a boundary throw in,
shall be regarded as having had prior opportunity.

No I just dislike sooks, I would rather be a suck than a sook and a whinge, its a disgrace really, the swans are cooking up a thread to make themselves feel better why they lost to a far more superior team. The margin blew out to almost 11 goals, A good side been what you belive the swans to be would have came from behind and made sure they didnt let the umpires influence the game.
You gort the first 3 goals and still trailed badly.
If the blues hadnt taken their foot of the accelarator, would this thread still be going???:p
