Carlton in no man's land

I don't reckon you could pick Carlton against any team in the comp apart from West Coast at the moment.

Carlton needed some very favourable umpiring to get some momentum against North earlier in the season, and they have improved since then whilst Carlton have regressed...
Ah well long way to go, let's see how they go with the new coach, whose first 2 games are GC and Haw at the MCG, both winnable with a fresh game plan.

Really can't work out how this club has been able to not get things right. Surely all things need to be questioned. How can you finish with 8/9 years of good draft picks and not build a good list.

23 years since they finished top 4 and won two finals. Won't be doing it this year.

If the Tiges win tomorrow that’ll push em down to 14th.

Might only win 3 more games the way their goin
I'm sure they'll win their grand final against us.

If Harry Mckay could convert at AFL standard Carlton’s results would be similar to last year.

He’s top 2 in CM and top 10 in Marks i50 but 64th in Goals per game.

Obviously they have deeper issues then that but in terms of competing for the top part of the ladder but they’d be in the 7th -10th range if McKay could kick.

Won't they be clearing most them out over the next two years? Plus, as I said, it's not really about Williams, it's about getting another top 5 pick. Whatever Williams contributes will be a bonus.
I really like the idea from both sides. It's a win win I believe

I have been a long time reader of this forum and finally decided to sign up, the one thing I have noticed is how quickly Carlton supporters have gone from saying they have a Premiership list to them now needing to completely rebuild. Looking at their team last night there was about 5 players that wouldn't get a game at most clubs in the competition..
More than 5

There ain't a coach in the land who could take this current group to a flag lol

100% there is always top line talent and it's actually more a bad thing if every year you are basically saying this is a side with 3 AA players or whatever, that's a lot of money tied up for starters- lets assume they are Cripps, Walsh and Curnow for arguments sake. Then you have McKay and Weitering on AA contracts, so that's 5....and then we get into the trade disaster contracts of Williams who can't stay on the park. There just isn't much money left to attract quality B-C graders, because that's what wins your premierships not your top end. Every club has a top end it's the depth that wins you premierships. Lets look at Geelong who have Parfitt not best 22, who is a C grader can come in and be decent, Carlton are calling in Ed Curnow still. I do feel Carlton owe it to Cripps to say you know what Patrick, if you want a trade, let us facilitate it or something. Would you consider trading a McKay (for say two firsts). Hard decisions need to be made and made quickly before Tasmania come in and you have compromised drafts,

Are Carlton getting two first rounders for McKay?

I highly doubt it.

Honestly don't know but someone will give it imo. Would be a typical player that would be elite with 6 months of coaching from Lloyd. Saw him on that show yesterday and honestly it seems a pretty simple fix to his goal kicking

I'd swap McKay and Weitering around

But happy to watch them labour on cluelessly

Last 3 coaches that have sent Weitering forward were sacked! Go Crazy Vossy do it

Great news for Carlton.

He’s director of finances, he’s not a ****ing football manager.

The sooner he and Bruce Mathieson leave the football department alone the better Carlton will be.

They are the old school Carlton stereotype. Arrogantly demand success. No build, no patience, think that money is the be all end all

The same people with “concerns” in the club about players, coaches, list management are the same people that made the original appointments.

Won’t fall on their sword though.

No, Voss and Zac Williams are the anchors holding Carlton down…

Some people need to understand top 10 draft picks aren’t everything. If they aren’t going into a good culture and development system they are useless. If you have the right development you’ll get more from a pick 40 than a pick 5.

You are 100% correct!

Will be sad to see him go…
