Adelaide
AFL Club
Carlton
as at 4/5 (Round 7)

Marc Murphy (shoulder) ok
Chris Yarran (hamstring) test
Ryan Houlihan (calf) 1 week
Matthew Kreuzer (knee) 2-3 weeks
Luke Mitchell (shoulder) 2-3 weeks
Andrew Collins (shoulder) 4 weeks
Mark Austin (arm) 5 weeks
Levi Casboult (knee) 5-7 weeks
Paul Bower (thigh) indefinite

-------------------------------------
Highlight = Top 22 player

I do not like that indefinite next to Paul Bower, but will be good to kreuzer and Houlihan on the park after the Bye. Great to see Murphy is ok

Kreuzer won't be ready for the cats game, but if we can get him ready for the Dees or Port game, that will be a massive boost...

is it just me or has kreuz been 2-3 weeks away for about a month - is he having set backs?

That's not just for Kreuzer.
We always seem to list a player's come-back weeks before they're ready.

Houlihan was 2-3 weeks for 5-6 weeks.
Based on our information stating Houilhan to be one week he'll probably be 2-3 weeks away.

With Bower being indefinite, is it possible he's gone in for an op?

Bower is a real concern and it appears that this condition he has may be chronic and could effect his long term prospects

Bower is a real concern.

Hope Yarran is all good.

Look forward to seeing Hoops back in the Navy Blue hopefully soon.

Not a chance the club will push Kreuzer for an early return. He's way too important for our chances in the second half of the year, and the club will only play him at AFL level when he's 110% ready.

Bower is the real concern. Has been injury plagued for a number of seasons now, and an indefinite thigh injury is not good. Thankfully White is doing a good job right now, and we do have some options should White fall out of form.

This is the thing with White.
It's not for him falling out of form, as it is for him giving in to continually having to punch above his weight (read perform above his height)

Let's put ourselves in the same position as White, having to go through day after day knwoing he'll have to perform against someone at least 6 cm above his height, and beat them in order to stay within the team.

I'd be exhausted.

Collingwood

Nathan Brown (knee) - season
Ben Johnson (back) - test
Darren Jolly (knee) - test
Ben Sinclair (leg) - 1-2 weeks
Chris Tarrant (soreness) - test
Josh Thomas (foot) - 1 week

How do Collingwood do this?
That's almost 2 years now where they have not had significant, nor structure restriciting injuries.

Right now only Fremantle and Adelaide could compete with us as for the gravity of the injured, to team balance.

It's no wonder Collingwood have been able to drop into a game plan and hang on to it with ease.
They have all their players to call on at any give time.

^ You'd think Jolly would be a big out for them.

Jolly will only miss a couple if that......Brown isn't a massive loss with Tarrant, Reid, Maxwell and O'Brien able to cover the talls....I don't know anything about him, but would have thought their conditioning bloke would be hot property.

Jolly: 1 or 2 weeks?
Kreuzer: 12 months.

Nathan Brown: 1 year with ready made CHB in Tarrant to take over. Even that injury was in training and not through the rigours of a match.
Austin & Bower: Just cannot get our two main CHB prospects onto the park..

That hardly compares with the depth of long term injury we've had.

Henderson: Still trying to find his feet after missing months in the off-season.
Houlihan: Won't be in a position to enter the team until mid-season
Mclean: So many injuries it's almost funny.

All I'm saying that I don't buy into blind luck.
Collingwood must be doing something we're not.

I's unreal, only 1 long term injury, the tests are able to play but are being rested. Brown is arguably best 22, had a good finals series but was not a major part of their home and away season IIRC. They just about have their best 22 avaliable and definately will next match unless there is further injury.

Geelong won a flag due to a durable list, as did Hawthorn. When Geelong had a few unfit or unavaliable players they lost to Hawthorn. When Hawthorn lost a few players they fell a long way.

When you have 2 or 3 crucial players out of a footy side it makes a big difference. We have 3 or 4 missing from our best 22. It's suprising we are going as well as we are. It's a credit to our depth.

The Tall Curse
Warnock (Shoulders, feet), Kreuzer (Knee reco), Austin (everything currently arm), Bower (Quad/thigh/ankle), Henderson (Hips), Jamison (Shoulders), O'hAilpin (Legs), Mitchell (Shoulder), Casboult (Ankle/Knee), Waite (Knee Reco), White (Hips?) and Walker (Shoulders) have all had serious long term injuries in their careers. They are nearly every player over 190cm on our list!!

Not to mention guys like Hartlett who were finished by injury.

What is the story with McLean? Haven't heard a great deal about him lately. Is he ready for a senior call up or is he still injured?

According to Ratts, (Ratts presser today) it's going to be tough for Brock to break into the midfield & won't come into the team this week.

@Carlton_FC "Brock McLean won't come in for us this week. It's tough to break into this midfield at the moment." #RattenPresser

mentioned in other thread but Ratten said today at his press conference that Kreuzer will be playing next week in the VFL :D

Can't wait to get him back!!

Possibly May 14th blue_boys.

Can't wait to have Kreuzer back in the seniors, but only & only when he is 100%.
No point in rushing him back.
