Well, neither did Carlton. Because they would have had to win their Elimination Final to 'make finals' (I.e. plural).

Carlton made a 'final', and was absolutely obliterated within the first 15 minutes of that game - as we all expected given they entered the 'finals series' as the 15th best team in the competition.

In a year they were supposedly peaking after building and rebuilding for more than two decades.
