Carlton trades and draft

In the papers there was an article about Carlton being keen on Joel MacDonald..he still feels he has something to give despite retiring. It also mentioned that by Carlton going after MacDonald they might believe that McLean's problems are chronic. They desperately need someone to protect Judd and Murphy.

Daniel kerr for their first rounder? im cool with it anyway

what kpp are carlton going to get and at what cost ?

who are we realy looking at every kkp that is out of contract is link to us in one way or other but who would we realy look at and at what price

breanna frist round pick and a $600 k wage
taila jacobs + pick ???
ect

The Bock pick for Jacobs is fair whether Carlton fans like it or not.

Sure we'll try and hold out for more, cause that's what negotiating is all about. But if that's there final offer at the deadline, we'll take it.

They might even add Sellar if they are really keen.

Jacobs is a decent prospect, but pick 14? That's roughly what Jolly went for and he's top 3 ruckman in the league.
Seems we have found common sense at long last.:thumbsu: It'll be interesting to see what we give up for Walker then, if we were to get him.

BTW that doesn't mean i'm not hoping we somehow land pick 14 :thumbsu:

And at the moment I think Walker will either end up a Dog or stay a Blue.

If you're only willing to give the Bock compo pick for Jacobs, there really wont be anything that you're willing to give to get Walker.

Thank you. Some sense amongst the clowns in here. :thumbsu:

Rumours had Richmond being linked to him, anyone know who he wishes to join?

What I find amazing, is that this is the 4th Carlton (Walker, Jacobs, Thornton, Grigg) player that is seeking "greener pastures" in this off-season. Normally, it is the players at clubs who are at the absolute top that seek opportunities elsewhere because it is incredibly difficult to becoming regulars in such strong teams i.e. Geel/StK/Coll etc whereas Carlton are an in-between side at the moment still building.

Is there something wrong down at Visy Park? Has Ratten stepped on a few coat-tails or rattled too many cages?

I think it is a combination...

Walker and Thornton are said to be pissed at Ratts for not playing them week in week out...-Thornton didnt deserve to!

Jacobs want gaurenteed game time - he is behind Kreuzer and Warnock in the ruck at the Blues, as good as he is.

Grigg - ??? - wasnt happy about having to work his way into the team, but 1 week ago he said he was going to stay. I am pretty sure the Tigers have put a pretty good $ offer to him!

Thornton and Grigg I really don't care about. Lazy players who feel entitled to gametime despite not putting in the work.

Sad to see Jacobs go, but we aren't short on rucks.

Would honestly hate to see Walker go, really rate him.

Thornton has been told to move on

Y the f**k would blues want Tambling anyway?? he is shite and we have plenty of much better pace across half forward and half back.
No doubt the tigers will throw Thursfield into the ring because he wants out and they know blues want a KPD... wont take it as a straight swap. Blues would only take it if tigers threw in a bonus late pick and if they couldnt land a better KPD from other trades

It's pick 14 and the draft has already been raided by Gold Coast which means it's value is more like pick 22. It's not that hard to figure out guys.

sure? because usually, when a team finishes 11th on the ladder, their first pick in the draft would be pick 6 (or 7 in the case of 17 teams).

And you think that being shunted down the order makes the VALUE of the pick higher? Let me get this straight - your claim is that your pick 14 is actually going to net you one of the top 6 players from a draft pool that's already lost top players to the GC before the draft began?

You'd be lucky to get a straight swap for Thursfield.
I'd argue we should get the late pick and Grigg for Thursty. He's a good stopper, much better than Thorton and comparable to Jamieson. Always plays well on Reiwoldt. What exactly has Grigg done?

So let me get this straight, we should give you a draft pick, and a player we want to keep, so that you can give us a player that we don't want?

Well if Carlton don't want him that's fair enough, I'm just saying that Thursfield is worth more than Griig in my opinion. Hence there's no way Richmond would give Thursfield and a pick for Grigg.

What he's worth and what you need to pay for him are two completely different things, mainly due to you having PSD Pick 2. Nobody is going to be paying Thursfield $100k per year over the odds though.

With the current situation Thursfield is probably the best we could hope for.

But if Grigg didn't want to leave, there is no chance I would trade him for Thursfield. Even if they chucked in their 2nd rounder.

But things are shit for us and we may as well except what they offer or tell him to f*ck off and hope West Coast draft him.

To be honest I couldn't careless if we get Grigg or not, and he is definitely not worth $100K a year more than what Carlton has offered (unless you've offered him $50K a year!!!). So I'm concerned if rumours of that are true. But if we're set on him, then I'd prefer the Tigers to trade for him. I'm not of a fan of players stiffing their club and heading to the PSD. Thursfield would be a good pick up for Carlton and a more than fair trade.
