Would have thought the last month or so has shown we are incapable of doing this at the moment...

Next week will be the biggest test. Geelong is a must win... If we drop that it will be a minor miracle beating WCE at subi in the form they are in...

On Tactics...I don't see why Ratts ended up putting Armfield onto Pearce... I get that it was clearly to try and free up simmo but Armfield was getting a good amount of the ball and playing well, he then goes to Pearce (who wasn't really having an impact anyway) and does the job of tagging and does his job well but totally stopped any of his own attacking game. While Simmo was meant to be released but was hardly seen...

On another note Thought Davey Ellard fought well throughout the game, Yarran really needs to lift and provide more run off half back

Because he's soft as piss, much like many of the players playing tonight (see: GWS game where he'd rather tap the ball to players rather than pick it up and feel body contact). We're playing players out of necessity rather than merit due to injuries and terrible depth.

The following players need to be taken aside and told that, if they don't lift, they are likely gone at the end of the year:

- Curnow
- Joseph
- Bower
- Russell
- Collins
- Davies
- Kerr
- O'Keeffe
- White
- Casboult

As far as I'm concerned they are dead wood. Some provide depth, but their output when required isn't good enough. The majority of them don't look like they want an AFL career, so why give them one?

Load up on kids. They'll give as much effort as the above if required.

Did someone edit out Gibbs :D

will the MC pull their heads out of the sand and realise we are in trouble. It has been like this since we beat Collingwood. After the pathetic display against the Demons the MC were talking about how we had turned the corner. For F*** sack we played one 1/4 of the game

We have completely lost everything we that made us so good against Collingwood

WAKE UP MC. IT'S NOT WORKING

You beat a half strength Pies outfit crippled with injuries, that lost Ball on the night, not a real test by any means. !

Ratts got spanked by Primus, pure and simple. It is hard to find logic in his moves simply because his performance was well below what is required of an AFL coach. Massive worry.

As for David Ellard, has a big freaking heart. Will fight for everything, but it is nowhere near enough, he is complimentary, not fundamental.

A solid game plan with players that know their roles reduces the impact of injuries significantly.

Geelong, Collingwood, Eagles and Hawks have all been forced to insert 3rd/4th string players into their lineups at times and they have generally slotted in perfectly, giving the impression that they are guns. Slot them in at Carlton and they would be scrubs because its every man for themselves.

In before 40yrblue comes in and says there is no such thing as a "gameplan". :D

Port this evening beat a less than half strength Blues outfit.

Injuries happen. Oh and haven't we spent the last month hearing about the Pies great depth?

Why are you even here?

We're in trouble on and off the field.

If the club thinks we can hit 50000 members anytime soon they're in denial... Unless we make a prelim this year or win the nab cup final next year and our 8/10 of our first 10 in 2013 we will lose members.

In the end I keep hoping this is where we pull out a Brisbane of 2001 or Geelong of 2007 and turn our mindsets around... Unfortunately we just don't have enough mentally tough players at the moment... Are the ones still from our dark years still scarred???

So many bad things t say and so little good tonight..

Hope knocks on Faith's door (again) and no one answered.

Time to toughen up CFC - get rid of spuds and flogs and start the rebuild - with a bit of luck and hard work - we can get to top4 over the next couple of years- with a Coach who knows what to do with the class we do have - and knows who to cut and what to get.

Current coach is not up to task of winning a Premiership. and building a sustainable footie Club of excellence.

Known Spuds: Bower/Joseph/Russell/Curnow/Mclean/Warnock/Thornton/
Known Flogs: Gibbs

All the above are sucking the life out of CFC - ever week.

With all due respect, just about every game has had that label of big test lately. Saints, Crows, even Port and now Geelong. Seems like we're gonna be on 9 or 10 win heading into the last round against our latest big test.

Our big test was how we'd respond after the essendon game. We haven't so we've failed. Sure we might sneak into the 8 but just making up numbers like the last 3 years.

Big clean-out required at years end.

I have been criticised for a long time about my support for Ellard
He should not be in our best 22 no doubt
He certainly should not be winning our BOG
So why is he in the 22 and why has he been in our bests so much of late?
Says a lot about the fight in Ellard and may also say a bit about the fight in others.
Complimentary maybe but at the moment Ellard and Brock are the best we have

could have done with TBird tonight

Good to see Watson add a decent game to the depth development.

Did he do okay? (Luckily I didn't have the misfortune of seeing the game!)

Been saying for weeks we need to give him a go and yet 'experts' on here were saying he was no good. Ratts signalled after the Adelaide loss he was going to pick players who weren't quite battle-hardened by might be after a month or so - e.g. McLean, Collins, Bootsma, Watson.

But from the sounds of things it's not the 'kids' we have to worry about but the veterans of the team with 50+ games experience who haven't been pulling their weight.

100% spot on :thumbsu:

In before "but that's not Ratts' fault".

He took a couple of nice marks, was always left on the goal line, let loose a howler in the last quarter, but did ok.

Why Number 18 started full forward is beyond me.

Work that out.
