Spewing we lost, but jesus what a game.....the best by far this season IMO.

Great effort buy the boys!

If we can maintain that sort of pressure we will really advance faster than we all thought............throw in a few guys like Walker and Warnock with Kruezer at CHF and we will really do well......IMO no flag this year, but he future is very bright.

Special mention to:

Judd: tough luck, did his absolute best to be out there

Browne: fantastic, this guy is so tough and as his body develops he is going to be a seriously tough mo-fo.

Setanta: I doubted him and you know what he is fantastic.

Fev: worked hard despite little reward.....great game and effort.

Good on ya! A great effort tonight and you can only bag us?

Not bagging us at all, just being realistic here. Remember how "off" we were against Fremantle after the tough game against Hawthorn. Seems like i was the only person that was absolutely gutted about this loss.

HATE ST. KILDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good effort but we proved we can't afford to give a team a head start.

We did miss Waite, Walker and Warnock.

We just aren't physically mature enough. Our rucking was horrible but we were up against one of the best.

We lacked attack on the ball, as a team we don't attack the ball with pace. We don't get a run at the footy and hit it with everything we have. Simpson and Judd were exempt from this. Let's hope it comes with maturity.

Austin can really play. Bower did well despite having a few kicked on him.

We were useless in the center. We didn't fail as badly as we have in the past with getting the ball out but we were again stagnant and failed to hurt the saints when we won posession in the center. Bett's roved properly.

Good signs by Carlton, still got a fair bit to work on though.

IMO the main difference was maturity both physically and mentally.

look how much work players like Army do away from the ball on their opponent! You miss most of it on TV but I am trying to watch it. Damn they work heard without the spotlight

We can rue missed chances, but **** it. We played as well as we've played all year if not better. Never say die attitude. The kids AJ, Bower, Browne were ****ing fantastic. Well done blue boys.:thumbsu:

Bad luck guys. Great game. Judd is insane. How does he keep getting better?

I'll be watching Carlton with interest in September. All the best.

What a ripping game of footy that was, watching that second quarter at the ground was just incredible.

I am just a little sad we couldn't win but gee am I proud of the boys after that effort, hope we proved something to our doubters. Simmo was excellent spinning out of tackles, Gibbs and Grigg were good through the middle and Setanta showed why we've kept the faith with him. Even Bower despite getting beaten in the contests, was one of our best I thought with the drive he created.

If we can bring something like that to the table next round then watch out Dons.

Went to the match tonight, was really happy in the end with the effort overall and unimpressed with the so called saints fans that think they are better than everyone else. I had a 'upper class' 60 plus year old give me the finger in the 3rd quarter. It was hilarious. They make the collingscum fans look not so bad (yes i did just say that). It only took till the second minute of the match before her group was hanging sh.t on carlton because of the late mr pratt. i was very good and listened to my dads advice before the match and not use my crutches as a weapon.

Anyway, i thought everyone left nothing out on the field except for stevens and maybe hoops. i know stevo is complaining about his neck and i hope it is getting better but if you enter the field of play you are 100% and i don't think he went hard at the ball at any stage.

On the plus side, Kade Simpson is fast becoming an elite player of this game and was my bog tonight, no disrespect to his captain.

They were actually straightening his nose and pulling it back into shape on the sidelines.
have had that done a few times. That sound and sensation in your head is something you never forget

if Houlihan had kicked that goal near the end we would have beaten the best side in the world according to the ladder. We are this || far off being as good as it gets and we have a half a season of improvement still to come. Go for number 17 blues.

edit: full credit to Nick Stevens too. Played to 100% of his ability.

Just gotta say, that was a fantastic effort. Being at the game really made you realise how good some of our young guys were tonight against a quality opposition. Great effort all round.

Joseph - has been brilliant for 3 weeks straight. 'Stopped' and won his own footy and uses it well. Only 12 games under his belt.

Austin - was fantastic. Will only keep getting better

Browne - hard at it, attacks the footy and was great

These youngsters really stood out for me. Not to mention:

Grigg - fantastic. And will start to find better form in the 2nd half of the year
Jamo - good job on Kosi
Bower - having a stellar year, and had a great 2nd half on Riewoldt after beaten early. Only 2 second half marks to Roo
Setanta - Possibly his best game for the club?
Garlett - not his best game, but showed glimpses of his magic
Simpson - BOG

Absolutely disagree. Stevens was magnificent last night.

:confused:How do we miss a bloke who hasn't even played for us yet??
:thumbsu: I do know what you mean though, just stirring!

Just a few thoughts from a neutral supporter.

Eddie Betts has the midas touch, everything he touched turned to gold last night, great player. Joseph is impressive looks like a veteran. Jamison was great down back and Bower fought back well after getting killed early. Kreuzer is going to be really, really good. Simpson was great as was Judd and Murphy.

Would i be wrong in saying Waite is your most important player or at least in the top 3?

Big difference this time around as we have now 14 days to recover/prepare for it when essendon will have to back up after only 7 days.
