I would say we're just slow to change thinking in response to new information. Hardly Robinson Crusoe there.

The new information is that he's played himself into form the past 3-4 weeks weeks
Another thing in Miers current favour is Stengle, who will now be taken by the premium small defender. Close maybe #2.
This leaves him 3rd in the small forward pecking order.
Maybe we see him get off the leash in a final and kick a few

I'm for Mieirs now, having questioned him in the past: if the team is picked on current form, he'll be in. He makes a great threesome with Stengle and Close.

The same with Zac Guthrie - a younger player in excellent form.

Sadly for them, a couple of the older players will have to go: some of the over 30 yo's have played in many a losing final.

Yeah I notice the number of times Miers is starting the scoring chain is well above where he's been. I think he's just got all kinds of space to work with.

The more I watch Stengle the more I am impressed. On the weekend a GC played tried to push off him with one arm. Stengle grabbed that arm and pulled the player toward him and won a free kick. It's something that's good in theory but rarely comes off. He makes the difficult look easy.

I more mean he doesn't like contact and shirks contests which isn't really good enough when you're playing finals.

Or any of the time really.
That's probably his biggest weakness, the perception that he is soft.
It is very possible the opposition will put some physical intimidation on him early in a game. It will be very telling how he responds and will determine if he gets selected again.

Where's that dude who doesn't rate Parfitt lol

Yeah - and Denis Marshall would carry him on his back - so would Wayne Closter and Peter Featherby and Mark Bairstow

Good luck to Parfitt - but lets see how the highly rated and hyped Parfitt performs in Sept against the very best teams - not some blooody plastic franchise on the Gold Coast

End of discussion

I was at the G for the first game in 1964 when Wayne Closter made his debut and got Brownlow votes, from memory at least. Before long he was drafted and had to go to Vietnam, poor fellow. Anyway he was a very good player and a great kick of the gonad.

I literally don't care about any of those players right now. It's 2022 and Parfitt is only 24 and is currently a best 22 player for us and we're arguably the best team in the league. Move past the old blokes right now and support the youngsters and current players.

Does he need two weeks for that though?
I doubt it…and that is the issue for MC that they are effectively giving people a long break which risks breaking momentum.

I would think that the only people out this week will have genuine injury or a lot of sore spots… (and nobody on the fringe would own up to sore spots this week!).

From my understanding that they have made it clear this week there will be no “managed” players unless can’t play. Anyone not in the 22/23 and not injured will play VFL on Sunday

Who comes in for Cameron?
Think they just bring back in Cegs, Duncan and Smith for Rhys and Cameron and move pinch hit forward (Henry, Danger, Smith, 2E etc) so as to keep that main “squad” in contention for finals all playing at top level.

They can then pick someone they want to rest and make them sub?

That is the least disruptive way going into finals rather than introduce someone outside of that squad who is unlikely to get a gig.

If his injury had the potential to me more long term they might need to rethink. But confidence in him being back after bye says to me they stick with the main group and experiment forward

Who comes in for Cameron?

Ceglar and smith for stanley and cameron (duncan in for someone). Either danger or menegola will probably play more fwd minutes or henry will go fwd.
