It's already been reported that last week following game 350 that Hawkins didn't return to the club until Thursday

Then factoring in the trip to Adelaide, though I'm not sure if the team flew out Thursday night or Friday morning, but with a 3pm open training in Adelaide, it was likely earlier than later - so not sure Tom had the best preparation last week to be playing off a 5-day and it seemed noticeable as the match went on
Noticed him stretching his back on several occasions... clearly wasn't 100%.

Fair chance they give Dangerfield another week off, even though his hammy was only supposed to be 2 weeks.

I'm not opposed to that - rather him be 100% for Brisbane

If we lost 1 or 2 mids, that may change thinking though

North got smashed last week but stayed in other games for a while and Clarko will be desperate for a win. Not a danger game but not a round-23, 2-wins-clear-top-of-the-ladder rest fest either.

I’d like to see Clark stay in against a young North midfield, see how his game looks against similar sized players, and Conway again if he’s fit.

Hawkins out if he needs a rest but not just to gift Neale some AFL goals.
I thought Tuohy was fine - maybe no longer best 23 with Clark and maybe Parfitt in the best team? But I expect plays most till Guthrie gets back, particularly if Danger might miss.

Will be happy with a 5-goal win and no injuries.

In hindsight it probably would have been a good game to rest him and give Neale a go but i know Hawkins hates missing
Idk maybe Jeremy doesn't get as lose as he did without Hawkins. Bulldogs had to give Hawk respect all the way to the end no matter his poor game beforehand. And every point counted in the end.

Curious why folks are wanting Hawkins to be rested this week. If anything, North are the ideal team to get a key forward back into form against. Here's how key forwards have fared against North this season:

Round 1 - Jesse Hogan 6, Jake Riccardi 3
Round 2 - Luke Jackson 2, Taberner 2, Amiss 1.3
Round 3 - McKay 5, Curnow 4
Round 4 - Daniher 5, Hipwood 3.
For a side that finished 2nd bottom starting with GWS, Fremantle, Carlton, Brisbane and Geelong is a bit harsh.
Two top 4 fancies and two non-finalists rebounding strong.

What would you prefer to do, rest players against North, or against Melbourne and Brisbane?
I'm fine with management of players, but I just wouldnt want to underestimate any opponent, and rest based on how easy we consider that opponent to be.

I'm sure that they had a plan regarding personnell at the start of the season and they are executing as close to as possible, factoring in injuries and form in training/games.

Based on his concern looking at the BOM data during that game, maybe he had extra work on his farm during the week- and that probably added some fatigue too.

Gary Rohan available. Guessing he plays VFL but that was sooner than expected. Very Un-Geelong like

Yeah but he is pretty old now.

I will understand if the "Hawkins doesnt like rests" theory has changed.

Anyway they will know best, and if he needs a rest, this week is as good as any to do so.

We will find out soon enough.
He has been pretty old for a while now. :D

Early guess ahead of Thursday night

Outs: Hawkins, Kolodjashnij & Tuohy (all mgr)
Ins: Mannagh, Mullin & Neale
They can now say Kolo and 2E are injured so not disrespectful. Then they can add one more managed (Stanley for Conway?)

Kolo has actually been in good form so far. Returned to his level of ‘22. No way he gets dropped. Tuohy is more problematic. I think he and the club should be prepared to play him for decent periods in the VFL if we have a relatively full squad to pick from.
