From the outside looking in Demaria is doing what he did in his last few years at Woorinen, recruiting old players looking for immediate impact which I’m not sure is the right way to be going about it, history suggests without a local foundation it doesn’t work

It can turn relatively quick if you get the right people in the right spots.

Got a proven coach so they are already on the path
Yep you young guys may not be able to remember, but when I played seniors at kerang in 2000, we had 5 or 6 guys turn up to a training regularly on a Tuesday night and we'd have to join the thirds to train. We hadn't won a flag since the 80s and had only played in finals once in the cmfl and all our juniors left after year 12. The club appointed Shawn filo as coach in 2002, they played finals in 2003 and were unlucky with injuries at the wrong time and won by 2004 and suddenly all the juniors were coming back to play, they made an effort to get the best local guys from the golden rivers such as the chamberlains and Tim free, Scotty worner and got 4 or 5 guns to show them the way like oppy, Tierney Jason griffen and Luke tyrell. Set the club up for 20 years. Maffra in the Gippsland league (similar sized town in a stronger league) did the same thing at the same time for pretty similar success and even greater success in getting guys drafted and playing vfl. The templates there for koondrook, as I say I like recruiting Bremner, Wilkinson and Thomas. And it's why I'm critical on why they are spending big on arho and bilton, very good players but past their prime

What is your coaching record plugger or you just kick goals?

When you have been down so long you just need to get some wins on the board, build some momentum and get the club excited. Very hard to change things without winning. Demarias history would suggest he knows how to win flags .

On footy things.

My learned colleagues who do we think are the young blokes to step up and have break out years.

Jacob O’Meara if he can get his body right and confident could be anything as a ruckman I believe

Who else is there?
Kye Attwell at the raiders could be anything. Would love to see him with some quality players around him.

nyah only won 3 games in 2022 and it’s not like they have gone and recruited massively. It can turn around very quickly but the hardest part is keeping locals then getting a few wins. That’s why I thought what Boga done with the Queensland guys a couple of years ago was the right move.
They have dominated juniors and finally got a strong senior side together so it was a shame to see them blow that momentum.
Barham are lucky that there will be a few sides struggling this season so they should be winning games anyway

Boga is a real interesting case for me. Have an awesome location, have strong juniors, access to agricultural fund raising initiatives but haven’t been able to build sustainable senior footy programs.

Trust me….i know it’s bloody difficult but they do have some of the ingredients required

Not suggesting at all that Marcus isn’t a good coach.
His premierships at Woorinen were built around a core of young players that were developed to become quality players.

I just feel he is heading down the same path that he did in his last few years at Woorinen where he become some what impatient with his local base and brought in older players that didn’t impact

And a good senior coach

I think he probably brought in some older players knowing that they were in the premiership window the last few years and try and capitalise. Can’t knock the bloke or the club for doing that

I reckon marcus should have chosen tyntynder over koondrook, I'd think he would have retained all their players leaving and still got their recruits plus a couple more.

I reckon the raiders should have thrown the kitchen sink at Kenny Sheldon

Interesting sliding doors moment

Did tyntynder approach Demaria to coach?

Koondrook would have offered more than the dogs!
