I think from the TOC I think all of the following would have a case:

Franklin, Hodge, Mitchell, Rioli, Roughead (replacing Salmon as the second ruck), Crawford, Burgoyne and Breust.

Then from there it probably comes down to criteria (ie best players vs best in actual positions, what era are they ‘playing’ etc) to determine how much recency bias is factored.

Didn’t see Arthur play (although I did meet him one day at the old Hawthorn Social Club, seemed a very nice chap), but that is the most ridiculous forward line in the history of the VFL/AFL. No one else could touch that.

Pretty crazy to think for Breust's career that he wouldn't be in a team of the century forward line, and not only that he wouldn't be in, more that it's not even really debatable. There are 17 other clubs he's an immovable lock.

No different to Moncrieff. For pretty much any other club a dual premiership winning full forward who kicked 629 goals would at least be in the conversation.
