More realistic option is sheldrick.

Kid is absolutely gun but things havnt gone his way

Some saying Sheldrick needs to work on his two way running and also lacks flexibility in where he can play position wise. Aka he's an inside mid.

Having a stacked midfield and adding Taylor Adams doesn't make breaking into the Swans midfield any easier for an emerging kid either.

Has had some niggles injury wise as well. Seems like a never ending flow of academy kids plus free agents lining up every year to join the Swans. Can't see that changing either so eventually some players will move simply for opportunity.

Yea i can easily see sheldrick going, and he will be a good footballer wherever he ends up

Very few clubs have contracts without a clause increasing existing contract payments in line with salary cap increases. I can only think of Essendon as one.

I very much doubt all clubs have a standard clause about cap increases in EVERY contract.

I believe it is 100% down to each individual player.

The top tier guys on long term contracts would have it written into their contracts as they would obviously span multiple raises , the guys on peanut 2 years deals wont.

using us an example Zach Merrett would 100% have it in his contract to account for cap increases, whereas Sam Weideman wouldn't.

Even if this is the case, I like the fact both WA clubs are being aggressive trying to bring home WA talent, including players who are stars of comp, and hopefully they prise out a few players, whether it’s Chad or someone else.

Feel like grabbing WA boys has been a safe option for clubs, specifically Demons and Swans.

We need to make taking WA talent a risky proposition again.
You make a sound argument for why academies were introduced

Girl Why Dont We Have Both GIF

What was the offer to extend? Maybe it was fairly average and his manager said we will sit on this until he has a Brownlow, B&F and whole swag of other awards in his pocket.
Nah, Swans offered him $2mil per season and his manager said "he'd rather play for $1mil back in Perth".

What you said sounds too sensible and not sensational enough

Wouldn’t surprise me swans offering 2 million, of course a million of that would be kicked in by daddy (AFL).

Can’t possibly have a Western Australian club poach one of their own back off the leagues darlings

That would be unfair
Freo and west coast should try drafting some of these blokes first time around

Oh well would you look at that!

Things getting “tight” for the swans and still their biggest name yet to be signed…
🎺 🎶- AFL to the rescue!!

Freo have a very strong record of bringing home WA talent. Not sure what your point is

I don't think he'd have any mates at the swans. Especially those that compete with immense relationships he built in the colts program

🤣🤣

If only he had a brother at the club
Maybe the swans should grab the other brother as well and give mum a job in the canteen
Just to make things 100% ;)

Excellent news!

Looks like our ten year contract at 10% of the salary cap has turned Chad's head. We can do that because the bottom of our 22 are rubbish and can be remunerated as such creating the cap space for Chad. Will he be better than Laird or Crouch?

We're deep in this game

I'm pretty sure it was just applied to all contracts for the Swans and not 10% extra cap.

The reason COLA was a problem was the same club claiming it needed it ran minimum list sized and extra rookies, those lowest paid players, so they could pay their primary list stars more money.

So more players were in the lowest income so the already higher paid guys could get more.

It will need to be spread across the entire list and not hoarded like you guys did last time for Tippett and Franklin??????
That's uhhhh not how COLA worked.
