I think your grading's are off. Can become A grade is not currently A grade. Hough is not an A grader but could potentially become one. Ginbey hasn't shown more than almost anybody his age. There are players from his draft class that are nearly winning Brownlows and are winning Norm Smiths. Hell, Josh Draper is showing more than him considering he's a KPD.

If Ginbey was such a success, why have they moved to defense instead of the midfield?
What a absurd argument re: Ginbey. Hayden Young spent how many years at HB before going into the midfield this year? I suppose Hayden Young just isnt that good then...

You didn't read all that I wrote there mate. Williams has some other KPFs ahead of him, Amiss or JVR wouldn't be the #1 or #2 forwards in a side with Allen and Waterman either.
Slightly different roles

Then how can you claim that Jack is noticeably behind them? Lol
0.9 goals per game and 4.5 hit outs is ok.

Amiss and Treacey will go to or surpass Allen and Waterman in under 3 years but Williams won't.

Young was actually great at half back and selected best 22 under 22 in 2022 and 2023 as a back.

Ginbey isn't at that level.

You guys are seriously over rating your kids. Reid is generational like Judd but there is no Cousins, Cox or Kerr.

Improvement isn't linear.

After 4 seasons....

I mean after 2 years, Young had played 13 games at a average of 12 possessions 2 tackkle per game... Compare that to Ginbeys 40 games averaging 15 possessions, 5 tackles per game...

There is nothing he has done to say elite.

Reid has shown that he will most likely be generational and Cousins and Kerr had signs of being elite as young players.
As per the direct post above, Ginbey's shown more than Young did in his first 2 seasons.

Also, referencing a popularity contest, such as best 22 under 22, isn't some kind of validation, especially considering Ginbey was nominated in the midfield and was up against the likes of Sheezel, Daicos, Reid, etc.

Ginbey's showing pretty normal growth. It's blokes like Sheezel, Daicos and Reid who are the massive outliers.

His reading of the game is absolutely elite. Thats why he went down into defense.

To me his playing style is Tom Stewart. Fact you are comparing him to Kerr and Cousins just says how far off base you are. I may as well say Hayden Young isn’t showing that he is the next Matt Pavlich so he isn’t a star

Context is anything. Young was injured for the first two years.

Silly argument.

Young is our third best midfielder.

Maybe, compare Ginbeys with Brayshaw and Serong.

Another poster made the compared him and Young. We were talking about him as midfielder.

You are making the point that he will develop like Stewart but play in the middle?
I said he reads the game like Stewart . Stewart can easily play in the midfield if Geelong want. He has done so successfully in the past but Geelong use him elsewhere

He will end up back in the midfield after a few more years. Before then his game will go to the next level now off half back we have a coach who isn’t hell bent on running him into the ground

Playing behind the ball and at the coal face is very different skill set.

Would he better in the middle or back?

It is but a ton of players did both over a career.

I think he ends up better in the midfield but like Young, he needs a few years off HB racking up possessions as opposed to playing 4th string in a midfield behind ball chasers like Yeo, Kellly and Reid. When Yeo/Kelly go away is when Ginbey can go back into the midfield as a more top line option

Are you concern about Kelly and Yeo age?

Different transitions though. Young came in as a half back flanker and has been moved into the midfield due how damaging he is.

Ginbey came in as a midfielder and has been moved to the backline to get more easy ball. How good he becomes, nobody knows yet but I wouldn’t be comparing him to Young’s career path next season unless you think he’s about to exponentially improve.

Ginbeys on track to be next Hayden young aye…

Jack Williams one of the best young kpfs in the game ….

Brady Hough already A grade…

Culley would’ve been a superstar if not for injury….

Sounds like exciting times ahead for WC supporters with such amazing talent id

No wonder chad Warner rang Simpson asking could he play with Harley

Ginbey came in as a half back . He played 90 percent of his junior career as a half back .
