Speculation Chad Warner

That’s true.

Baker is a massive West Coast fan and he is living out his dream playing for the Eagles.

Cash helps as well.

Not sure this is true but Warner was a Fremantle fan.

Any way there is a lot of factors why players choose a certain club.

Warner has spoken to both clubs.
I am sure if Warner is a Freo fan he won't worry about the money.
Would help them with their salary cap squeeze.

I don't see how Warner gets to Fremantle without them selling the farm in future picks. Their 1st rounder next year is going to be late, possibly into the 20's if they live up to their top 4 expectations.

Then there's the cap squeeze, they've just added Bolton on a big deal and already have near $2 million a season tied up in their rucks alone, not to mention the sort of money Brayshaw is going to command as he comes OOC this year. Serong, Young, and Treacy have all signed decent extentions in recent years too.

Warner will come close to the million dollar mark you would think. That will be a lot harder for Fremantle to accomodate than it will for West Coast, who've just offloaded well over 2 million dollars in cap space with the departures of Gaff, Darling, and Barrass.
Perhaps a 3 way trade. Warner for Brayshaw, then Brayshaw to essendon for 2r1's.
Some other things might be added to the deal.

The cap squeeze factor won't be significant per se, at least not for the next few years imo. Nobody knows the figures, so you gotta judge by behaviour. And Freo this season chased basically every star signing there was to chase. It just happened that Bolton was the one we secured. But we threw our hat in the ring for Kozzy, Gulden, McDonald and Cumming while still keeping the same chase we've had for Chad.

Where it becomes a real factor is probably more Young's and Serong's next contracts amongst others. Serong signed his deal before his last 2 AA years, and Young signed his when he was still a somewhat injury prone half back. They're probably underpaid relative to output right now. But both their contracts expire in 2027, and no matter how much they love the colour purple I don't think their managers are telling them to give up the Tassie bargaining chip anytime soon. There's many others who are a few years away from signing their free agency age contracts too and those add up, but them 2 in particular are the obvious big ones.

That would require Brayshaw to agree which isn't going to happen IMO. I don't see a world where he leaves Fremantle.

I think the main issue if Warner leaves, what's the better club to go to.
I dont think there is any doubt about which team is better suit for Warner if he wants success in the next 4-5 years
But who is the better club for Warner if he wants $$$$ and the team that can get the deal done could be different
Also he might be an eagles supporter who knows.
But the eagles will have massive dollars on the table which Freo wont be able to match

100% it’s money vs success.

West Coast dont have many elite young players.

The drafting has been horrible for years. That’s why recruiters have been sacked.

Trading out pick 3 was stupid move.

Eagles in are a mess.
Clubs dont need many elite players to win a premiership, most premiership teams have roughly 6.

Eagles can comfortably be in that ballpark in a couple of years. We have at least 3 right now, a top pick in 2025 and Warner makes 5 likely elite players. Just need 1 other player to step up

You have one that’s it.

Not sure what the laugh react is for, stallon

You have 1. Reid.

McGovern will be retired before you contend for a premiership.
Allen's knees are a concern.
Kelly is already 30.
Yeo is already 31.
Ginbey looks like he will be a very good player, but elite is stretching it.
Waterman has had 1 good year. If he backs it up in 2025, you'll have 2.

Thats entirely your opinion, youre entitled to it, but it doesnt make you right either

If Warner chooses WC it will be for money and success

There is zero correlation between freo and success despite their supporters unfounded hype and over compensation.

Will Chad be taking into account the 92 and 94 premierships when he makes his decision.

I’ve got no dog in the fight but to suggest wce are closer to ‘success’ than freo is hilarious

Hough is wasting away as a lock down defender though

I was big on him pre draft but are west coast going to actually let him use his talent?
Wasting away? You think dominating nearly every opponent this year, in a team getting belted, is 'wasted'?

He'll make AA easily in the next couple of seasons if he continues doing what he's doing.

Highly underrated outside the club

firstly you are a swans supporter so you 100% 'have a dog in this fight'
Secondly where did I state WCE are closer to success ? I inferred WC have experienced success..No club or supporter base can guarantee future success, which freo supporters are suggesting is a factor in Warners decision
