Jackson didn't have runs on the board ?

He was regarded as the best under 23 tall in the league and single handedly swung a grand final in the ruck .

I'd probably pick 30 midfielders in the AFL before him off the top of my head, maybe even 40.

Not in the same stratosphere as Chad Warner come on

Its their a rule that we have to use our best pick if we can come up with a suitable trade that doest involve our first pick ?

If hawks shit the bed and finish 11th-12th it would be a very good pick

Poor draft year next year.
Need higher picks to get it done.
And Warners a better player than Taranto was.

West Coast will woo him over and commit to getting him. Freo will play the game to keep West Coast honest. And Matty Clarke will Matty Clarke and get his man at what he sees as a reasonable price.

BTW those picks aren’t outrageous.
Pick 3 will likely be a very good player (but Warner is better). And 14 will blow out to a speculative pick in a weak draft. Take the player every time.

An out of contract Reid is probably worth a first rounder on top of whatever Warner costs.

So would you be happy with say Hawthorns pick and another pick, say 10-12 ish for Reid?

If not, the Warner offer is too low.

Wasn't Darcy out for a fair amount of the year and they had to bring Reidy in at some point to back Jackson up?

Not saying he's bad but he looks fairly lost at times, due to whatever role Longmuir is trying to play him in.

I'm pretty sure that Jackson being 'lost' is an OK part of the best 22

Did you watch him this last year or was it just 2 games?

No Rule but when you are trading in a player you have to satisfy the player and his former club

and what usually satisfies the former club is a better pick , Think of why you want to keep your best pick and thats most likely why the other team will demand it

And Matty Clarke will just pay it

That's the thing, he's 'Ok', with the occasional standout game.

Personally, I think it's the way Longmuir has been using him, as opposed to his actual ability.

Appears to be much more of a burst/impact player, as opposed to having a sustained and consistent impact over an entire game.

Nothing wrong with that, that's just on the coach to work out how to utilise him properly to get the most out of his ability.

Sometimes you don't get what you want . We didn't get what we wanted with barrass

If Sydney would want more what would freo be able to offer if warner chooses you

If he goes to west coast then they would want two top 10 picks. One this draft and one the next. I'm sure west coast will improve over the next few years but that sounds possible and not unreasonable.

Freo ditto but we may finish higher up and our two firsts won't be as valuable. I'm sure Sydney would prefer to deal with west coast.
 
Warner goes to Fremantle its 2025, and 2026 first round picks plus a 2025 second pick like the Jackson trade.

He selects West Coast its 2025 first and third round picks. Depending on the first-round pick, it might be a second-round pick.

Swan would want more but don't have hand.
