Warner will cost a top 5 pick plus some

Pickett top 10 pick easily

This is not “writing a narrative”. I wasn’t here over the trade/draft period.

Pick 3 trade in isolation is horrendous and I think most see/recognise that, but most list managers always say they think about the trade and draft period as a whole rather than evaluating one pick/trade in isolation.

If before the trade period started we were told we would get Baker, Owies, Allan, Shanahan, Hawks F1,F2,F3 for TB and a F4 I think most would say that is a decent hall for the trade and draft period.

4 years at band 4 I wouldn’t have thought $2400 a week for a bloke without a family is a good way to spend his money. If Chad wants to come to WCE a deal will get done no question.

WC are 3-4 years into their rebuild and have only 2 x top 10 picks on their list. Even if HR becomes the goat, 1 player isn’t going to move the needle that much. See Gold Coast.

You appear to be heading for no man’s land at best from the outside.

By contrast Freo have 7 top 10 picks on their list and have made finals once in the last 10 years.

If we want to talk about not moving the needle that much we can look at your clubs list build and the return on investment that it has provided (or hasn’t might be a better word) over the last decade.

I’m quite happy with the contingent of young talent we are (slowly) accruing.

Twice in 10 years if that is the cut off you’re choosing. We took six years to win a final during that period.

WC currently at 4 years without a finals win so I’m guessing your drought will be longer than ours by the time you get back there.

It just seems insane that you have managed to nearly avoid the top end of the draft so much despite the win / loss record of the past three seasons.
