Speculation Chad Warner

I thought Richmond were the ones to snub that offer as they wanted pick 14 ?

Richmond also offered Graham more money to get us to up our offer but Graham declined.

From what has been said Graham has been great during preseason but his lack of pace and injury history makes me sceptical he is worth what we paid .
If Yeo misses time due to injury early in the season I wouldn’t be surprised seeing him in your starting centre square midfield. Only behind Harley and Kelly at the moment.

Mini knew what he was doing getting him across.

TBH yeo wasn't going to be a main stay in our midfield much longer.

He had been getting rotated to HBF where he started his career and won his AA awards .

No doubt he is a quality player and will be missed .

Baker may have to put his big boy pants on and step away from his cushy backline role and earn his money putting his body on the line in the guts .

We have a few options to replace yeo .

Kelly, duggan and graham will be the 3 main guys in the middle add Hutchinson our MSD pick last off season looks really good on ball and has the age and size to step in straight away .

Hewett after missing the whole last season with injury should spend some time in there too .

Clay hall will be pushing for games and is a genuine inside mid who has bulked up significantly

Liam Ryan was used as a centre bounce specialist last season with great effect and Petrecelle is a harder body who has also spent the last couple of seasons playing inside mid bursts as well .

And of course Harley if he pulls his finger out and loses that Xmas pudding off his mid section he came back with from break

We are starting to put together a decent set on on ballers add both warners to that and we will have a decent engine room

So Swans have 2 flags going by that ?

Guess we remember this differently. No problem with that.

That’s was always his one deficiency. Saw him fall in his draft year. He landed at the right club (Tigers) to get the most out of his career to date.

I don’t know how much you are paying for him. My gut feeling is, he’ll possibly have a similar career and impact that Jarryd Lyons had for us.

If Graham can be as good as lyons I would be stoked . He looks to me like a poor man's ben keys

Keys is decently fast, and can run all day.

Lyons was good for us at the start. But the game changed with a lot more focus on mids who can run all day, or have burst and power.

I believe we agree on Graham in terms of onfield fit at WC, just have different views on how he plays the game. For me, he's an inside mid, but at the Tigers he was down the pecking order, so he was pushed forward, where he found a role on the fringe of their best 22, because he was a better overall player than the next best small/half forward they had.

Anyway, what your opinion of Chad's new pad in Perth?

In all honesty, and I'm not trying start a back and forth, "you so would" kind of thing here, but I wouldn't be totally fazed if we missed out on The Chad.

Don't get me wrong, he's a champion player and he improves any team he goes to, but he's surplus to needs for Fremantle.

We are loaded with midfielders and Young is turning into the goalkicking mid we've been looking for, we got small forward gaps we need to fill before we go looking for that big fish.

So, in summary, would I love Chad in the squad? Yes. Would I be upset if he ended up at the Weegs? No. Would I want us to match up on him in a GF? Absolutely not.

Reckon he's a bit surplus to your needs also. Pickett would be the better option, IMO.

Jack is a defensive mid in the mould of George Hewitt.
Better tackler and stopper of the play when his team don’t get the ball. But gets less of the ball himself than George does. A good kick inside 50 when he gets the opportunity. Brave. Strong. Slow. Needs speed around him or he gets found out quickly.

He’s a second string mid and a vital cog as a club man and role player in a contending side. At the eagles he may end up in their starting midfield early.

He's not a top tier mid, so he's a role player, and plays whatever role his club requires of him to the best of his ability. The type of player that yoyo's in and out of a teams best 22.

You’d hope so and he’d show this by signing a fresh new contract soon.

No way his value will sky-rocket next year he would be mad to sign anything with anyone before 2026.

Wouldn't be expecting anything before the bye, IMO.
Pretty sure he can’t change his wages for this year. Next year should be different and it would be financially responsible to do it as late as possible so everyone has a chance to throw their god father deals at him which he can use to leverage the best deal possible.

Think he’ll sign if/after we get Chad Warner at WCE and before the start of the 2026 season. 2 year extension (1yr remaining + 2 additional years)

pretty sure your right about wages.
3rd year club and player can increase wage and match payments, not sure of exact formula but could be up around average wage $500k.
You might be right, when we sign Warner and sign Reid, would have thought WC would be pretty keen to lock away for as long as possible but 3 years would be the minimum WC would want I would think, thru to FA would be better, 5 years but depending on his trajectory is by end of 2025.
