yes, you're right however.

I think they need to somehow change the system so it's harder to miss games but there's still an accumulation punishment. maybe add one extra game?

I'd change it to the same rule as the World cup. Clear all yellows after the Quarters but you are still out if you get 2 yellows across the 2 legs of the semi.
As it stands it is really harsh on someone who might get a yellow in the first leg of the Round of 16 and then pick up their second in the second leg of the semi.

Edit: What red+black said

Disagree with the sentimental part of players missing a final on the yellow card. Their ill discipline cost them a spot in the final. I have no time for this argument after Rocca got rubbed out in the 2003 prelim. If you were stupid enough to do that so close to the final your deserve what you get.

I can guarantee you that UEFA will soon add an amnesty rule. It already exists for the UEFA U21, U19 and U17 Championships. I would not be surprised if there was an announcement within 3 months.

FIFPro, the international players' union, has called on UEFA to show leniency to the Chelsea and Bayern Munich stars ruled out of the Champions League final due to cumulative yellow cards.

Given that UEFA is to follow FIFA's policy of wiping the slate clean at the quarter-final stage for Euro 2012 this summer, FIFPro believes this stance should be implemented for the Champions League final.

I'm crushed for JT. The blokes been the backbone for this side through it all, and now had a chance to captain a winning CL side, and gets done by the yellow card rule. Devastating :(

He got a straight red but even if it was a 2nd yellow, he didn't get done by the yellow card rule, he got down by his own stupidity. I mean what an incredibly stupid thing to do. And that for a captain with years and years experience.

SBS had this footage after their highlights tonight. Terry actually came from 10 meters away to give Sanchez the knee. What a fool. And a **** thing to do really, that's just trying to hurt him for the sake of it.

Loved his first explanation of it as well that he was just following Sanchez and he stopped in front of him so he ran into him with his knee.

I'm guessing once he saw the replay he changed it as i haven't heard that version since

As a Chelsea supporter it would be a dream come true to win the Champions League without that colossal w***er John Terry.

I don't care if he is the "heart and soul" of Chelsea, he is a prick.

Having said all that I'm not sure we beat Bayern without him.

Also hope that Chelsea win because it would be a win for English Football. Agree with sentiments on John Terry. He's not the messiah, ...

I hope Didier Drogba wins. It's his last season at Chelsea and it would be a fitting end to his career there. It really would be. If he does leave, regardless of the result he'll leave there as a legend of the club (imo), a big game player who has been there long enough and shown enough of his great ability and commitment to the team to be remembered as a club great in years to come.

Shanghai Shenhua?

Nikolas Anelka siad they were a chance to get him, and Shenhua said they were in talks. I haven't heard much recently.
