Nick Daicos is red hot this year. Don't bother trying to tag him. Throw a spare around the stoppage to limit his space to get clear. IDGAF if he has 50 handballs, it's when he gets free of congestion that he breaks games open.
Also what rule can we abuse so much, they change it?
With our outs, a loss is not going to have me thinking we've got no chance if we make the GF. What will do that, is we come out and play traditional Hinkley ball (Jonas selected, poor movement, kick 1.5 when we have the play, only for the opposition to quickly kick 2.0 or 3.0 against it, close the margin, only to get blown away again and heads drop. I.e. It's Groundhog Day, again).
If we can try and play to a decent structure and with reasonable conversion and lose by less than 30 points, I'll be disappointed, but think we're still a chance if we can get everyone back for finals. More than that and/or play the way we all hate and we're just making up numbers (yet again).
Collingwood fans gets to offended to any criticism of Daicos. No matter how mild.

. For what its worth i think this game is a flip of the coin and last week must have been an aberration. You guys are too good to allow Silvagni and Motlop to kick 4 each under normal circumstances surely

The tagger needs to forget winning the ball.. need to stay on the outside with daicos and not get drawn to the inside contest as he hangs around outside and does maximum damage.

Exactly. Where Daicos gets you is on the outside when he just takes off from a stoppage and receives the ball after sprinting 50-70 metres. Good luck trying to stop that. All you can really do is make sure you stay between him and the goals and not let him deliver inside 50 or get the goal himself. Similar in agility to Rozee but has that extra gut running component. Awesome player.

Yeah thats a good call. Boak has the smarts and fitness to go with him for sure. The problem with a "hard" tag is the tagger can get too focused on one player which lead us to have Pendelbury alone at a stoppage a couple of times one game. Selfishly i hope he doesnt get tagged becuase we love what hes doing but its naive to think hes not going to cop something soon.

You can't tag him, he's too quick and too smart and even if you succeed they'll just send him to half back or half forward to chop you up there instead.

Daicos has an insatiable thirst for the ball. We should exploit that, perhaps a trap of some kind. A Ken Hinkley thirst trap.
