Structure is too important to move away from him. He occupies a tall defender. If he goes out, opposition can have a free man jumping across Marshall/Finlayson.

I thought Lord presented and competed ok. Not the best performance, but considering we have no other option, happy to keep him in.
Lord played a team role to disrupt the intercepting marks of the GWS talls. His first thought was to body them out of position and he did it pretty well. I wish he'd tried to mark it more often but he seemed to be following a team instruction.

No brainer? In 344 games Boak has kicked 4 goals on 1 occassion, in his 11th season. Evans achieved this feat in his 14th AFL game. Clearly Frank is the better option.
The tank has only played four full games, not much opportunity when you are the perianial sub.
Evans only came on for the last five minutes and ironically his hard-ball-get resulted in McEntee only goal.

We have been lacking drive on the Wings where X is being carried hoping to play him into form.
The other wing has been Wines & Boak. How refreshing to have Bergman roaming the wing, albeit, returning from illness he tired in the second half.

Aliir Aliir has never kicked 4 goals in a game, maybe we bring Trav in for him instead?
If you kick four goals the policy is to drop the player who should have been applying pressure and not winning the ball and kicking goals.

well i will have to check my sources, but you are telling me that jason dunstall, andrew gaze and cameron mooney cannot tell the difference between jackson mead and francis evans? (i'll excuse jed because they wouldn't know who he is)
Yes and Bernie Vince

If Hayes is rucking during the finals we’ll have no chance.
Who do you suggest would give us a better chance? The guy who singlehandedly lost us the 2020 prelim by letting Toby Nankervis go in dry, the three game teenager, or the guy whose direct opponents play the best game of their career every time he takes the field?

Can’t believe we’ve only beaten the dockers once in perf since the start of 2009, but no excuses this time around

I do not think it will that easy. We are under strength and the Dockers are coming off a 100 point win at Optus. We can win it but we will need to be at our best.

That aside what unbelievable programming. Here we are at round 23 and this is the first time we have met the Dockers in 2023!

I'd prefer we lose this game. Secure 4th spot and guarantee 1st final vs Collingwood at MCG without Daicos & Moore.

That being said, if Collingwood beat Brisbane on Friday and we happen to win without any major injuries I won't be upset. I'd just rather play Collingwood in a quali than a prelim or GF.

Was boak and wines shitting the bed as usual with simple set shots from 40 out that cost us.

If we play like we did against GWS - with Ollie, Butters, JHF, Rozee carving it up, and high pressure team defense, with good run and carry from half back - We should account for Freo.

I reckon our forwardline is probably our weakest link still though. Conversion is also an issue, and will be more of an issue come finals.

Rioli has probably been our best forward of late, alongside Peps - and both are working into some really good form, they create a lot of opportunities.

Jez and Marshall need to go another level. Must kick straight.

Lord is holding structure for Dixon.

DBJ played his best game for the year, and needs to bring that.

And Mcentee must be close to getting dropped.

Sam hayes us definitely ahead of Teakle, but I’m not sure about Visentini. Both had reasonable games, maybe visentini is slightly ahead if fit because he is a better runner. On a warm spring day that could be crucial.

I get your logic, but just because you play Collingwood in week 1 of the finals doesn't mean you will avoid them for the rest of the finals series. 1v4 on the ladder can still be a possibility on grand final day.

If Brisbane lose to the Pies on Friday night, Port's fate is in its own hands to get the coveted 2nd spot on the ladder. Get 2nd spot, get 2 home finals, see what happens from there. I know they've screwed the pooch in 2020 and 2021, but I wouldn't look at those results as reason to try to get 4th spot on the ladder as opposed to trying to get the 2 home finals and a direct run from Adelaide Oval to the G on the last Saturday in September.

Reality is once it's finals time and you're down to the top 4 teams on prelim weekend it doesn't matter who you're playing - it's going to be a bloody tough game irrespective of the competition.
