well one thing's for sure, the selection this week will give us a clear idea about the path he wants to take for the rest of the season

Ins - Fletcher, Gumby, Atkinson, Prismall and Melksham (rested last week

Prismall is ordinary at bendigo and is a firsts player

Confirmed Outs - Jetta
Other Outs - Dyson, Lonergan - rest to see how week progresses

I have a feeling that everyone is missing the big picture on the ins and outs - We all know if Slattery (H) is fit he will play, its obviously how he gets paid for mowing knights lawns, this will mean that the WCE small forwards will run riot and kick a bag

Fletcher and Gumbleton to return for Eagles

Matthew Knights today confirmed Dustin Fletcher would return from suspension while Scott Gumbleton was a "better than even chance" of playing after being a late withdrawal through injury.
...Gumbleton was rested with soreness in a few areas.
Mixed messages. Gumby with general soreness. Who knows...

@Yaco: Source? That's quite a serious claim...

OUTS: Jetta, Dyson, Stanton (send him a message) if not then Howlett

INS: Fletcher, Gumbleton (I still think he should come back through the VFL but Knights says no), Houli (MUST play- deserves his shot- I hope he stays because he will be incredibly incredibly good).

All this dribble about Houli drives me nuts. He's not a good player and doesn't have potential. Loops hand passes and lack decision making skills. Trade bait for a higher draft pick.

Ins: Fletcher, Gumby, Pris(although he was shocking for Bendigo on the weekend I agree he plays better at senior level), Atkinson.

Outs: Jetta, Lonergan, Reimers, ???

Atkinson can play that Lovett role from last year as he has the pace to do so. Reimers, for mine, got too cute against melbourne and could be possible trade bait at years end along with dyson and houli.

I'd like to see Neagle and Gumby up forward and have Hurley down back with Fletch and Hooker. Hurley has more confidence down back and needs that to grow before he can be a true swingman ala Lake.

Houli does not have potential? Haha. Are you Knights by any chance? Houli has shown more in his 20 odd games in which he has averaged 20 possessions then a lot of the current best 22.

Houli has shut down Milne in a role to which he is not suited to. I do agree his handpasses have often let him down but have you seen Dempsey's or Slattery's?

Here's a quick look at things- Houli as a backman has had less goals kicked on him then Slattery or Dempsey and somehow averages 20 possessions- probably more then half our backman in the team.

Shows more then Dyson, Slats, Myers and deserves his go. Will be a very very good player. Bookmark it- feel free to bump this post in a year when he is regularly getting high possession games in the midfield at another club.

The selection merry go round will be on again this week so i would like to see:

Out: Jetta, Dyson,
In: Fletcher, Gumbleton

They would line up something like:

Mcveigh Hurley Hocking
Fletcher Hooker Dempsey
Stanton Watson Colyer
Monfries Gumbleton Zaharakis
Davey Neagle Reimers
Ryder Lovett-Murray Winderlich
Bellchambers Welsh Howlett Lonergan

It would not surprise me one bit to see Knights keep Dyson in the team and drop Colyer, and Lonergan who played a pretty good game and bring in somebody like Myers who played a bit of a shocker for Bendigo but gets selected on the back of a bad game..we just have no idea what hes going to do. If Atkinson got selected this week, i wouldnt be against that.

I feel we need to play all of Myers, Melksham, Colyer and Riemers before the year's done

You mean the bloke who plays in the midfield, kicked a goal, had an assist, and ... wait for it ... actually ran back to help the defence?

Yeah, I remember wishing every other midfielder gave as much of a **** as he does.

Ha... Yea, this is the guy that was discribed by our inspirational coach as quote 'an elite midfielder'.

Has been pathetic for a month or so now. Interesting that you're so impressed by his deffensive efforts but rate Lovett Murray as having a very good game having just ran around doing his own thing in the back line, oblivious to who he was on.

Am waiting with more eager anticipation this week for team selection than any other. I think it will give us an indication of where we are going in the next 7 weeks.

Why? Because he played poorly on the weekend? It has clearly been shown all season that playing well or poorly for Bendigo has nothing to do with a player is promoted or not.
You mean Neagle? He was brought in to fill a need. We don't NEED another Houli type.

I just want some people in the side that can stick a tackle this week. I'm anticipating Natanui having his 2nd good game for the season this week (3rd if you include preseason) given he brushed aside all our attempts at tackling last time we played. He just walked right through us and either got the ball forward or to a runner in space.

Anyone dumb enough to suggest we drop Welsh after he's actually played well the last few weeks has absolutely no f-ing idea about football. None.

In: Fletcher, Atkinson
Out: Lovett-Murray, Stanton

Interesting that you write the first bit, and then request the omission of Lovett-Murray. Are you serious? He was one of our best on the weekend.

How does Welsh fit into the play on at all costs game plan Knights spruiks? How are Welsh's foot skills?

Very easy to suggest Welsh should be dropped based purely on skill or lack of foot speed.

Welsh + Slattery in the backline - yup really smart move by the coach.

After all, our gameplan isn't built on run and carry from the half back line? I mean these two provide such fast, decisve and attacking movements with the ball.

Why do we need a tagger anyway? We get slaughtered with or without one. Wouldn't it be better to have a definsively minded mid who can get the pill rather than one who is a bloody cancer when he has it?

Season is over - play the kids re: play those who may be delisted at seasons end and see what their worth is.

Sadly - the more we lose, the better our pick will be - better chance we have of getting a better mid.

I agree and that we think this Pev, well it's a sad state of affairs!

We know who to blame..... :(

Then you look at Richmond and Melbourne from last years draft - the quality of kids they got from the first couple of picks. You'd be mad to wnat to miss out because you want to be honourbale and not tank.

We don't have to tank - we're losing just fine trying to win. We need to assess the list and make harsh decisions. Team selection will be pivotal in this.

In what world was L-M one of our best? He was horrible. Lots of disposals doesn't equal BOG.

Welsh's job is to be a tagger, something he's done very well. He's kept Hodge, Vince and Bate very quiet. He doesn't fit into Knights' "run fast and play on" style gameplan, but you can't have 22 blokes all screaming forward at the speed of light. You need some defensive midfielders.

As before, we can't have everyone running forward, we need some accountable blokes. And for all the shit he cops, Slattery is a very good stopper down back on the small forwards, something we've struggled with for years.

And what's the logic in playing blokes that're going to be delisted? Surely it's better to develop guys like Howlett and Colyer.

And FWIW, if we finish 15th, we get Pick 6. This is not the year to tank.
So we do not need a midfielder who actually gets possessions? Our midfield is doing great at the moment right. He is more accountable in defence then Dempsey and Slattery as well?
Houli get's the ball very well, it's just that whenever he disposes of it, it generally winds up in the oppositions hands, or in the hands of an Essendon player with 4 opposition players around him.

His Bendigo form has been rubbish, in no way does he deserve a spot.
