Correct, the better example for how the AFL haven't thought this through but just copied the BBL is that, unlike cricket where a batter is a batter and a bowler is a bowler even if of different quality, football is a genuine team sport that requires a degree of co-ordination between teammates. This is particularly true at AFL level; clubs don't have six different assistant coaches just for the fun of it. "Just go out there and play footy" works for ammos where the opposition have received the same instruction. It's going to be a lot harder against a team drilled with an actual gameplan.

I couldn't agree more... and look what happened to the BBL this year - totally lost credibility, and the crowd.

The top-ups won`t have key roles but will be used as support to compete and try to beat an opponent , the nucleus of the team are well versed in the key elements of the gameplan ..
