The biggest question I have now is how bad is Like Edwards going? He is a primary listed player as an emergency, is he injured and we are just pulling names out of a hat?

He’s been injured all preseason.. i think he only joined in training last week?

Don’t worry tough guy I’ve put 20 on us. Stronger midfield, back line holding up, Darling at CHF, Flyin at full forward running riot on Corr, B.Williams to just tag Goldy, less predictability, we can run out the match, less gaff on ball, less waterman, less rotham brain fades, we’re a big show. 6 of their players straight out of VFL virtually, they’re a rabble. Get back to basics, play for fun, play to win - footy at is simplest 👍 then week later we are in good nick for Derby. Looking forward to the keyboard warriors post match 🤛 save your dribble for the podcast and your KFC bucket. 5 goals down, no NicNat, no Gaff, no Shep…

Life is too short to keep repeating the blindingly obvious.

Once again neither of you has managed, or even bothered, to answer a simple question.

A career in politics awaits.

Groin issues, hasn’t played all preseason, like Duggan was slated to have a run in the WAFL scratchie this weekend.

So that's the next thing isn't it? We would have eased Duggan in but now he has to play, more of a chance of injury I would have thought.

Is J Williams physically ready to play as a KPF or will he snap like a matchstick?

I'm no sports scientist so I don't know, quite possible I'm raising non-existent issues.

J Williams has never played a game of WAFL League, let alone AFL. Colts footy only. He is absolutely not ready to start at CHF and that’s the only real concern from this, injuries to young players/players we’ve rushed back.

Once again, nice that Simmo and co have attempted to put together their best 22 in a no fuss way, but I’d have been leaving anyone remotely injured home and loading up on tradies to plug the gaps.

Yeah some of the ins look good on paper but Shuey’s soft tissue is extremely soft, Darling was training away from the club until two weeks ago, Duggan hasn’t played all pre-season and wouldn’t have been risked this week, Jamieson and Williams aren’t physically ready for AFL.

I don’t want to hear any excuses though.

Who knows, if it keeps going at this rate there is a posibility of a priority pick. It'd be end of first round or after our second rounder but still. TBH at this stage i've got us locked in for bottom 2 with it being more likely we take the spoon. If freo end up in a similar situation to us they could be bottom 4 as well.
Freo are destined for a flag!? Just ask them...it's virtually in the bag!

To be consistent and 'fair' then as we head into the GF - esp if between Rich and Coll (or Ess v Melb; or Carl v Foots) - and one team has only say seven listed players available (plus their 20 off listers) does anyone truly believe we'll still be hearing Gil say 'the game will go ahead'?

Complete BS. Will never ever happen. Ever.

The situation is ridiculous and I have no confidence in the AFL to be consistent later in year if this happens to Vic clubs or around finals, but it is what it is. We get to watch footy, no one really has any expectations. If we win, it will be one of our greatest victories. We lose and we chuckle about the spectacle. I really don't think we were finals bound anyway (form, injuries, game-plan, ageing list) so the timing of it all isn't the worst.

It should be fun to watch and we all know its a compromised comp at the best of times but, this year, its completely so (at least for us). At least we get to watch footy rather than no games. Just enjoy it. It may even speed up our rebuild and will be a fun game. More enjoyable than our last outing against North…

Not that it's a surprise, but Simmo says there's now 13 players unavailable due to covid

Also gave a good whack at Caro which was nice to hear

Just want to bump this. Good listen. Whacks Caro and Robbo.

This has set the standard. Yes, if it happened to a big Vic club instead of WC, they may have postponed and that would be the standard. But unless a team is completely incapable of fielding a team, I think they will now do the same to other teams. Until finals, which to be honest, I’d be ok with that.

And agree on the last, no matter what happens, this will be than last year’s clash with NM.

I think the AFL would do well to state where the COVID cut-off numbers would sit for finals clearly from the start...

JW played in a Afl u18 team v Geelong VFL team last year , these young kids are fearless and have a crack ..

This is actually what worries me. On the one hand AFL house comes out and says they agree with the MRO and says Willie should have been suspended for potential to cause injury, then they throw a bunch of kids and rings ins against hardened professionals because the show must go on.

There is no easy solution, but I am in your boat of leaving those underdone at home and juniors who may not be quite ready for it at home. And then I hope those younger guys who play stay fit and surprise us all by forcing change to the tried and tested 22 with credits in the bank.

The AFL had stated pre season that they were not postponing games. Hence all the top ups allowed. So, if they had postponed for a Vic team, they would have been seen to go back on a policy they had just announced weeks prior, and which all these changes had been designed to avoid.
