Don't worry. The ball isn't going to get that far forward anyway.

This has become so bad it's become funny.

I'm going to watch this match just to listen to the commentators struggle to name players in real time in the call. I can see them wimping out and using the generic 'West Coast' name for about half the team.
It's confirmed Bond is Legdon

Not that it's a surprise, but Simmo says there's now 13 players unavailable due to covid

Also gave a good whack at Caro which was nice to hear
Someone needs to tell that campaigner to shut the **** up. Were sick of her bullshit

The Roar tipsters have 3 out of 4 tipping WCE to win!
This tipping was posted just before the team lists were revealed and the ensuing Covid debacle.
One tipster was aware enough to say something like "It might be reckless tipping the Eagles before the team list is revealed, but just quietly, they looked good for most of the Gold Coast game and now have a handful of stars returning.."
Well those same returning stars are still playing, it's just that the rest of the team has been replaced....
The Roos seem to be in a vexed state on their board, one poster saying "the media will kill us if we lose and kill us if we win!?"
In a bizarre way it might be the game of the round, for it's unknowns and barrel-scraping compilation of teams - could produce an unusual game or a game with unusual moments of play?
I wonder who will stand out for the Eagles...Darling, Ryan, Rioli, Kelly or some fresh faces?
Meanwhile GCS lost to Melb by only 13 points. Melb claimed the Suns are an improved team. If so, our loss wasn't so bad given the circumstances.

J Williams has never played a game of WAFL League, let alone AFL. Colts footy only. He is absolutely not ready to start at CHF and that’s the only real concern from this, injuries to young players/players we’ve rushed back.

Once again, nice that Simmo and co have attempted to put together their best 22 in a no fuss way, but I’d have been leaving anyone remotely injured home and loading up on tradies to plug the gaps.
Can’t be much worse than waterman at CHF. 9 kicks, marks and a goal will be the benchmark

Could’ve got some juicy $1.01 odds on that.

Classic Simpson playing the old feel sorry for us line. One of the worst motivators in the business. Could have been using this as a WCE vs VFL / Caro, backs against the wall / we will stick it up them type thing but looks to have conceded defeat. Have excuses, but save them for after the match. If you don’t believe you can win a two horse race you shouldn’t be out there. Best thing for us would be for him to do some home isolation and test out Schofield. Simpson is not the man for a rebuild. Hopefully the game shows players wanting to win and showing some pride. We lack leadership within the club and at a time we need it, it becomes more obvious

I think guys like jamerson and J Williams will absolutely chomping at the bit to pull the jumper on for their debut .

Jamo has played senior footy and Williams is a lump of a lad so they should be fine.

The only concern I have is the fitness and they will likely struggle to run out a full game ..

I would be really surprised if Simmo is not using this motivation behind closed doors ..Do you expect him to fire North up publicly or lull them into thinking all they have to do is show up ..

Hopefully Simmo has thrown all the structures out the door for the new guys and top ups to keep it simple. Play old school one on one, everyone has a man, no zoning off just go out and play football and enjoy yourselves…..
Well apart from every kick out we go long to the right. That will surprise them.

Can't believe the hypocrisy of some posters complaining about Simmo's supposed negativity (when he hasn't been) yet every single post of theirs is negative to the club, Simmo, our players, this board, etc, etc.

Can't wait to get to Marvel to watch the mighty Eagles play. Just need to pack my West Coast Arrogance and I'll be ready to go.

Up the Coasters!

Simmo just said look they beat us at home with our full strength side last year with finals on the line. Realistically we weren’t going to beat them anyway. We’ll review the match and get some soldiers back
Classic Simpson playing the old feel sorry for us line.

I mean, I’d ask you to say where he’s said any of that, but I know you won’t answer.

You’re just full on trolling. And badly.

This is actually what worries me. On the one hand AFL house comes out and says they agree with the MRO and says Willie should have been suspended for potential to cause injury, then they throw a bunch of kids and rings ins against hardened professionals because the show must go on.

I'm glad someone has pointed this out, because IMHO this is the big flaw in the AFL's policy. Basically forcing a club to play underdeveloped kids and amateurs against fit, strong and hardened opposition is a recipe for disaster. And there's also a risk for the stronger club -- that some hyped-up amateur goes out of their way to prove themselves and ends up poleaxing someone. A broken leg or a torn ACL is one thing, but if someone cops a cracked skull or a broken neck, lives get ruined.

I'm looking forward to the game, but geeze... I don't think the AFL have really thought this through.

You worry too much , kids are trotted out every year *(see Hough as a example) and these amateurs have been playing against men for a while now ..

Another reason we drafted Clark. Feel he will surprise on field and also bring a strong character to the group, and leadership.

Club said they didnt draft him for 2022 impact. (The shoulder was in rehab)

Well one things for certain. Schofield and Knights are earning their money.

Every week is a whole new midfield. Lol.

This week it a simple plan. Shark the oppositions ruck. Scrap and fight for every possession. Must put North kicks under pressure.

Kelly, Shuey, Duggan, Jones, Rioli and even Witherden? Nelson on the wing. Ryan pushes up the wing as normal.

Petro set up for Pagan's paddock sling shot attack to kick 5.

Correct, the better example for how the AFL haven't thought this through but just copied the BBL is that, unlike cricket where a batter is a batter and a bowler is a bowler even if of different quality, football is a genuine team sport that requires a degree of co-ordination between teammates. This is particularly true at AFL level; clubs don't have six different assistant coaches just for the fun of it. "Just go out there and play footy" works for ammos where the opposition have received the same instruction. It's going to be a lot harder against a team drilled with an actual gameplan.
