Collingwood will unveil a highly-touted debutant against West Coast to help cover the loss of Taylor Adams, whose injury fate has been revealed.

Finn Macrae’s dominant VFL display against Geelong will see him handed a debut against West Coast as Taylor Adams’ worst knee fears were realised on Monday.

Anyone able to post what’s behind the paywall? My mum did say that there was a news report that McInness was going to travel to Perth for a possible debut as well, but I didn’t see the report so I’m not sure whether she’s mixed up McInness and McRae or if MicInness might be up for a debut as well.

If Cox plays he needs to spend more time in the ruck against Nit Nat.
Otherwise send him to the magoos for a few weeks and bring in Cameron. Surely he can do better than 5 kicks 5 handballs 2 hit outs 0 goals

I've been feeling down all of yesterday and today about the Pies and haven't even been able to bring myself to read anything dissecting Saturday's match. But if Macrae plays and McCreery keeps his spot that would be a big step towards me feeling committed to our 2021 direction.

I'm happy for Rantall, Bianco, Ruscoe, Henry, McInnis, Poulter and McMahon to develop in the reserves this year and I'll enjoy following the VFL team for that reason, but we need to be getting games into Macrae, McCreery, Kelly and Keane.

Although I'd love it if Rantall, Bianco and Henry can get some good form going and force their way into the seniors for patches during the year. .

I’ll feel better if the club accepts where it’s at, not contending and actually rebuilds properly, not plugging holes or throwing stupid money at FA’s. do it right, I don’t cAre how low we go. It’s about building a capable list. Hopefully next couple of months we see some new faces starting this week

Doesn't say anything about Reef.

Collingwood onballer Adams will miss up to 10 weeks with a high-grade medial ligament sprain, a bitter blow for the Pies given their 1-3 win-loss record.

But despite losing one of its star clearance players, Collingwood will have only its vice-captain and Jamie Elliott out of its best 22 against a West Coast team missing Elliott Yeo (groin), Shannon Hurn (calf) and Luke Shuey (hamstring).

The Pies yesterday cleared Jordan De Goey (AC joint) and Steele Sidebottom (thumb) to play after scans on Sunday.

De Goey pulled up sore after being tackled and Sidebottom stirred up an old injury, but they will be on the plane to Perth on Thursday morning.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has promised change after an insipid loss to Greater Western Sydney, but not all of the six players taken in last year’s national draft are ready.

Exciting half forward Ollie Henry played in Round 1 but after a four-possession game is finding form again in the VFL, while explosive midfielder Reef McInnes is only just back from a finger tendon injury.

Beau McCreery will keep his spot in the side after making his debut as the medical sub in Round 3 then playing well against the Giants.

Macrae, taken with the No.19 selection in last year’s draft, will almost certainly make his debut as a highly-efficient midfielder in the mould of his Western Bulldogs brother Jack.

He made the Under-18 squad for Vic Metro as a bottom-ager while also playing for Xavier College and averaged 16.9 disposals, 3.9 marks and 83 ranking points in seven NAB League games.

He was the standout in the VFL clash against Geelong on Saturday, with Irish defender Mark Keane and Darcy Cameron also in the top three Pies on the ground.

Cameron is expected to come in to help Brodie Grundy tag-team Nic Naitanui after his solid summer form and his strong performance in last year’s elimination final against West Coast.

Wingman Caleb Poulter, the No.30 pick in last year’s draft, has been in strong form but copped a head knock in the contest that required attention.

He was cleared of concussion and played on after being bandaged up, but is not quite ready to debut.

Brayden Sier was subbed off in the loss to GWS after vomiting in the changerooms with gastro, but should be available to take on West Coast.

The reporter did mix up the names

He said Fin McInnes - but because he then talked about his good VFL form it seems he meant Macrae not Innes

Great news if the Macrae stuff is true, looking forward to selection or a club video to confirm that.

I'd be happy with Cameron coming back too, leave Cox to play forward all night.

In. Macrae Cameron
Out. Adams Thomas C.Brown

B. Quaynor Roughead Maynard
HB. Noble Moore Howe
C. Sidebottom Pendlebury Daicos
HF. Hoskin-Elliott Mihocek de Goey
F. McCreery Cox Cameron
R. Grundy Crisp Sier
I. Mayne Greenwood Madgen Macrae
E. C.Brown (sub) Murphy Keane Thomas

Wait for the Club to Announce it 1st.

Still could be Sub/Emergency

That's what I think they'll select, I'd have Murphy and Tyler Brown over Mayne and Greenwood, personally

You just have to laugh at this stage, we’ve been blessed this season with injuries, still losing, but the one person we couldn’t afford to lose was him.. and it’s half the season. We could have lost anyone but him or Moore.
Yeah but not funny haha

Said before GWS we were 2 injuries away from complete rabble....guess what we pretty much are...now if moore or Howe go down....gee whiz..

Btw why not try Howe or moore forward bring in Keane and Kelly..

May not work but at least trying something..

Rather try something new than keep going like this

It`s never the duds on our list who get injured

You need to wear glasses or get a new pair. He set up two goals last week and usually kicks 1 or 2 a game. He provides Grundy a break when he goes into the ruck. He has been as likely to score or create a goal as our highly paid superstar, Degoey.
He gets in the way and blows so many chances that it kind of negates the positives.
For me, he will never lead us to a flag as our go to forward.
There is no way that he can be held in the same conversation as Kennedy, Walker, Buddy, Daniher, Hawkins, Cameron, Brown, McKay, Curnow, Naughton, both Kings...I can keep going.
I can barely think of 3 other teams that he’d be a walk up start in.

The In's and Out's for me the next two rounds.

Out: Mayne, No more just say No! - Adams (Inj.), Madgen (omitted)
In: Cameron, MaCrae, Murphy

Only reason I chose MaCrae over Rantel is his foot skills.

Round 6 - In's I would be looking at are McInnes and Keane
