This season is shaping up to be a disaster.

We're well off the pace, will not finish top four, and have yet again abused our club's future to double down on the same failed seniors. We get a year further away from that premiership window, and we're doing nothing at all to move back towards it.
13 other clubs would love to be having the disaster we are.
We've uncovered a new 1st ruck that can play for the next 8 or so years at a high level
Gotten games into jones who has shown glimpses but isn't up to regular afl footy yet it seems
Misread the rule changes and changed our game plan mid season resulting in far more competitive performances
I don't like douglas selection this week either, or to a lesser extent mookay, but to describe the season as a disaster is just histrionics

What position are we shoehorning Mackay into?

Davis should’ve stayed instead of Douglas
We'll probably shift Seedsman up forward to accommodate D Mac on the wing

I'm glad I can't go this week.

This ****ing club

New coach won’t change anything. We need better support around Pyke. **** can get stuffed as well. Campo must go

Exactly, we will get yet another rookie senior coach who will be conservative, too worried to risk dropping back a bit to actually move forward.

Rinse and repeat for another 20 years.

But woohoo we made the finals, anything can happen.

Meanwhile a forward beast like Fogarty who would thrive in Showdown pressure gets to cool his heels in SANFL defence.
Heard at Selection:
"Yeah, Douglas stays in, he's a good ole boy. Mackay back too, awesome fellas great choice. Darcy who?
Oi, pass that bong, Campo".
Fogarty is struggling, now is isn't the time.

You know what's happened? We lost at Geelong and the reaction is not 'let's drop the old spuds and bring in good SANFL players' it's 'let's bring in the veteran known quantities on the favourites list'.

I hope we can manage to win, with certain players simultaneously spudding it up so we can drop them ready to play finals against good sides (which the Power ain't).

Not a disaster....mediocre as usual. We are eternally mediocre

Lol you repeat the message so often you were bound to be right.

If you think Murphy goes for Lynch you need to quit drinking

Something I forgot to ask last night. Which of the outs is Mackay a direct replacement rolewise for? If you don’t think we shuffle to get in or keep in senior players then you’ve not been paying attention. The player to go out for Lynch doesn’t need to be the guy playing most closely to his role. I would have thought Mackay in this week against the outs would have twigged you to that. Here’s the hint, Mackay is experienced, ergo, he is flexible. Dougie is no different and sits ahead of Mackay on their pecking order. He will stay and it’ll be likely be Murphy that goes unless Gooch completely craps the bed this week or Murphy makes himself undroppable.

But here’s the prediction that you use to create my list of being wrong. Dougie will not be dropped whilst both Gooch and Murphy remain in the side. Regardless of form or role, one of them will go ahead of him.

I have not been confident all week, especially last week with everyone talking about how easily we would beat Port.

I’m even less confident now.

I keep thinking if this was a work situation, and I was continuously not given the bigger projects in favour of the older guys who were not competent...would I stick around? And then I get sad at how incompetent our Club could be. Amateur stuff.

Most would love to see fog play but most would agree he isn't ready to be playing AFL footy no different to Jones or Davis even pohlkoke hasn't been able to show it at the top level

Why would you want blokes to be in and fail when they haven't yet shown they are capable at the elite level

Mackay has and he has this year dougy has played two shockers but they are hoping he finds form no different to how tex played three shockers and found form or rushing JJ back in because EH wasn't ready

JJ may play poorly he has had a number of weeks off but the risk probably outweighs how EH has played at the elite level

Posters say EH was playing well earlier this year at AFL level , that's rubbish he has clearly struggled and the risk of rushing JJ back is the better option although most posters don't even want JJ in the team according to Sanders

I grow tired of your rubbish.

Right so Mackay slots into half-back and we continue to push Smith upfield like we have tried to do to try and break the tag.... Which he doesn't seem capable of doing.

We tend to play 7 defenders regardless of who plays there, Mackay or not.

Smith's form is such that he wouldn't be far from the axe himself. Mackay has been shown he's not above said axe, I'd expect a 1 or 2 week stint in the side.

Douglas yep I look like I've been wrong on this one, very disappointing.

Who in the reserves has shown he has an ability to play afl at their stage of development we have seen from the twos

Fog
Jones
Pohlkoke
EH
Davis

All seem not ready to make the massive step up

It’s seriously non-optimal having poor kicks in Talia, Hartigan and Kelly all in the same side. Talia is obviously a lock so despite their strong defensive skills and 💯 endeavour, ideally we’d only play one of Harto and Kelly.

Doedee returning next year (fingers crossed) will resolve this but I still think we could get serious value out of adding Francis to the list, and Kelly leaving.

Talia as the single lock down tall, with Keath, Doedee and Francis all covering, intercepting and rebounding is a nice combo.

Harto goes to the emergency list (required depth if Otten retires as seems likely) and Brown remains our lock down small defender.

Sholl, Hamill and McPherson putting pressure on Laird and Smith as attacking defenders.

This ******* club
I can see it, we’ve carried Seeds whilst he built up his form and fitness, he plays a blinder and we move him to fit in Mackay.

In all seriousness I can’t see it.

Mackay hopefully will be playing half back allowing Smith to move.

Jones has played to an equal if not higher standard than what Douglas has shown this year and most of last. Poholke hasnt been any worse than Douglas, and EH has done his bit more often than not.

The issue is, we dont seem to give these guys a go, Wilson has destroyed the SANFL for the past 2 years and cant get a look in

Smith is now the one who needs said blinder.

Smithers has gone under the radar of poor form for a while now.

You could suggest DMac has had a better season than Smithers.....

Smiths best has been better, but yeah they are lineball. At least you can rely on DMac to hit a contest

Will cut us up, you watch

I reckon 6-6-6 has limited his “swing man “ role

If we let him run loose and he cuts us up it’s an indictment on us more than a pointer to his ability .

I really have no problem with MacKay in. You can never question his endeavor at all.

We will miss CEY and Lynch and that concerns me more than MacKay in

I am not sure just how “wet”. the game is going to be. Wilson has definitely been consistent & he had excellent game on the weekend in horrendous conditions
Chayce as well.
