No, I think they believe it for real, they honestly believe half form from them is better than full form from a junior because of what they add outside of the football.
To be fair, we do have an issue with lack of senior leadership on field

Especially with Sloane out. Doedee is an on field leader. So can kind of see why they have persisted keeping an experienced guy out there.

But it came to a point at least three games ago, if not more, where his errors where outweighing any benefits in being the onfield leader.

When you watch live, it is Doedee structuring up our backline and talking to the group.

Maybe it is time to have Laird move back there. Have Laird and Smith be the generals in defense alongside Butts, Murray, Frampton, Parnell/Hamill.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul?

Laird is doing very well in the middle and is now a bona fide mid.

Smithers is at the point where he needs a spell as well.

There is a tipping point where you have too many inexperienced guys on the field and we are at that point if not beyond already. Especially down back.

Or we get to give another kid a chance significant time in the midfield.

Use Laird as an attacking option out of defense and run with a midfield of Keays, Berry, Hately, Schoenberg, Soligo.

Laird can go back to the midfield next year when the matches and results matter.

And lose the leadership Laird provides in the middle?

Laird is a mid now, and finally becoming a very good one. Why change that?

I would rather give that extra time to the young mids by moving Keays out.

The entire football community;
Doedee is out, surely Worrell gets his go right?

AFC:
Doedee is out, good, now we can re-select Jimmy Rowe
I'm waiting from the announcement that rather than a priority pick the AFL will allow David Mackay to be re listed and will play this week.

We have decided to play with 21 players this week and not replace Tom, we just don't feel that any of the players currently in the SANFL are quite ready to come in at this stage.

It’s unfortunate, as I’ve said to a couple of people, I went to the training session last night and he hit every kick I reckon, add that weapon to his impressive frame and he could be an absolute gun, someone just needs to work on his positioning or at least use him as a spare, except we get blinded by his size and use him as a kpd.
What you said about Frampton at training is very interesting (and I am not a fan of his).
If his kicking and SANFL form are that good, could we use him in the current Dawson role, ie mopping up in the backline?
Serious question, AFC979810 too.

That'd free Dawson up to play wing/forward where he is most effective.

And another unsurprising tidbit of info just surfaced......

Carlton has played at Adelaide Oval a total of 5 times total, against 2 clubs in 9 seasons.

So for Crows v Carlton, out of 9 games since AO has been used, 7 of them have been in Melbourne and 2 in Adelaide.

Un. Real.
I've been lamenting this for years now.

Was about to post very similar. I was watching him closely last night pondering what could/might be. He has a superb kick.

Regardless of how he's failed in the past. I'd have him in this week instead of Doedee. If he stunk it it up, it would be no worse that what Doedee's been producing lately.

I believe we have often requested that if we're only facing Carlton once for the year it be played in Melbourne as it's a usually a game we get on the MCG, which can be few and far between.

Or you could look at it as having your leaders being unavailable providing an opportunity for someone younger to show some leadership.

But no, we'll just patch up our experienced players and have them going at 50% instead of giving someone else an opportunity to step up.

Let's not let fact get in the way of a good story
