Maybe they watched what Cook brought last week
As opposed what what McHenry has brought for an entire season? If we're using that logic then 5 or 6 players would have been axed a long time ago.

Cook has talent. We're in the tail end of the season. Play him. I highly doubt he can't run out half a game as is being claimed.

Yeah I do think he’s a viable alternative to Doedee.

Is there anyone not getting a game in the seniors who you think would be a viable alternative to someone who currently is?

Wow this is turning into a really sensible conversation, let’s keep going.

Yes, and for varying reasons. You?

Didn't watch him last week did you?

He looked exhausted and red faced every time he had to do a bit of work.

This is such a cop out, McHenry has been contributing exactly **** all for months now.

Theres 0 harm in bringing Cook in for the remaining games.

Worrell in for Doedee is logical - should have happened a fortnight earlier as Doedee has clearly been labouring for a while. I think this is probably the final piece of evidence that Frampton will be delisted at season’s end too.

McHenry remaining in the side at the expense of someone like Taylor is complete garbage. Ned’s output at present is unbelievably poor. But this lack of change is to be expected because of the values that Nicks so clearly holds dear (effort over production or talent).

I don’t have a huge issue with Hately (he’s not very good) or Cook (he was a disaster after coming on against Sydney) not getting a game. Sholl is clearly on the trade pile. Newchurch played a poor couple of games at the wrong time in the SANFL.

Chayce is extremely lucky to survive. The McPherson, Doedee and Brown injuries are the only thing that has saved him.

Pretty pathetic that McHenry and even Murphy stayed in after last week.

I will cut Jones some slack, he at least put in during the last quarter.

Taylor seems to have missed his chance, based on form, to play.

And I still think Hately should be in, and played in the middle. Even if his game was not great last week.

No unforced changes after that first quarter is pretty damming.

Chayce Jones - 2 touches and 1 tackle after the 1st quarter, including no touches in the 2nd and 4th. Good job, maaaaaaaatttteeee!

McHenry - 3 touches and a tackle in the 2nd half. ******* maaaaatttteeeee, great effort!
It's these selection that give you no faith in Nicks....
Is the cupboard that bare ?

McHenry shouldn't be getting games. Neither should Cook though if he can't run a game out. I say that as somebody who rates him and wants him to get games. Last week he was nowhere near it. Maybe it was just late season fatigue or maybe he's a slow burn that will take a while to develop. He still looks pretty under-developed physically.

You would think Sholl offers twice as much as Chayce.
And Sholl ends up leaving, it's pretty frustrating

The fact that they leave Sholl out, who showed last year he can be an extremely dangerous player and they leave Jones in who hasn't had a single game in 2 years that was a 4 quarter, consistent effort is just mind boggling at this point.

There's just zero integrity to the selections. It's pure favouritism.

Pleased for Worrell

Disappointing it has taken so long to rest Doedee. Poor management on our behalf. Bad for Doedee. No experience gained for Worrell. Barely won a game anyway.

Better late than never though. Hopefully he does well and conditions are a bit better than his first hit out

Has Ben Davis been the travelling emergency or the home game player held back for any games this season?

Indeed! :thumbsu:

He was miles off it, unfortunately it's tended to recur...

Needs a big pre-season and to lift his consistency of effort and aggression at the contest...
Yeah if they gave cook a run of games it might really hurt our chances of making the 8

Nothing's crept into Sholl's game. He's played the exact same way across his career thus far, same as Atkins did. The new player shine just wore off.
The multiple Brownlow and coaches votes, rising star shine?

He's one of the few young players we have that actually looked a top tier talent and we've already stuffed it up and binned him.

Sholl must be gone right? Parnell mustn't be seen as better than him? Because they're both similar players and they probably think we can't afford to have both in one side.

I don't really get how Sholl ended up so out of favour. I noticed some Atkins-isms creeping into his game but I didn't think they'd just chuck him on the scrap heap.
There's an early episode of South Park where Stan gets a step-dad who is always yelling at him to do chores. And whenever Stan sees him in the house and tries to talk to him the step-dad just mumbles "erghh, chores, chores" and walks away without acknowledging Stan.

Nicks is probably the same, except he's just mumbling "ergh, pressure, contest"

Roy is such a dick.

Other guys out of the side more deserving than Cook currently , until Cook hardens up he’s not going to have a great time of it

He’s making Sholl look hard , Sholl is unlucky not to be playing

Taylor more deserving than Cook , he’s putting his head over the ball and winning it , and also has silky skills

I can’t believe how quickly some supporters wrote him off

Coaches wrote him off just as quickly

Bizarre

He has 5 Brownlow votes. 3 in his 'breakout' game against an unmotivated Carlton when nobody knew what he was capable of, and 2 vs North Melbourne who are not capable of providing any meaningful opposition (Note that Sholl hasn't played in any of the charity wins since that one)

Atkins debuted relatively late in age, showed good signs in early matches and after a handful of games started ripping games apart with his pace and evasion, and continued well into his second year. By late in his third year his game was well understood and he had failed to add anything more to his game, and thus was easily countered by any opposition who did a moderate amount of planning. People were already accusing him of going soft/etc. at this point.

It's fair to call it a huge failure of the Crows to develop either of these players further. But the key failure is that both have never expanded beyond a one-dimensional player with one easily identifiable skill, not that any new habits crept into their game.
