We’ll find out tomoz when the injury list comes out..

Or we wont..

They still have a “no tell” policy at AFC..

We neveer found out why Strawnie missed the first SANFL trial game.. all we knew was the week before it our poster “Bigman” was watching training and saw him walk off limping and looking sore.. never heard a word from the club on injury though.

It was strangely (or not i guess) never mentioned anywhere but they replied to someone with this

The more I think about it the more we need battle hardened bodies this week. You know Port will puff their chest out and hit us off ball (SPP for sure). I'm not sure it does much for the development of some young players to come in to that. I know Sloane and Smith have been underperforming but perhaps they need to be kept for another week and in different positions. They should put Smith on a wing and sloane forward. Smith is a beautiful long penetrative kick when on his game, it's not inconceivable that he could get a second wind playing as a wing, guess it means Jones has to play back though 🤷‍♂️. Sloane could be a good marking mid forward

Powaa have quite a few young blokes as well. I think most of our younger blokes are tougher than most of the experienced ones. We just need to go hard at the ball.

I love the SA and WA derby games, looking forward to them. :)

Do you have a good matchup for JHF? Kid is going to be a star in the future but atm he has a few exploitable weaknesses, doesn't have the tank yet, is prone to ball watching at stoppages and once he is more than 10m off his opponent doesn't bust into a sprint too often. Pies were really clever the way they rotated players around him and ran off him, created some havoc.

Assuming that Fog and Butts are fit to play:

Out - Parnell (inj), Smith, Schoenberg, Himmelberg

In - Jones, Butts, Taylor, Thilthorpe, Hamill (sub)

Gollant for Fog if injured, Keane for Butts if injured.

FF: Rankine, Fog/Gollant, Rachele
HF: Pedler, Walker, Keays
C: Dawson, Berry, Sholl
HB: Hinge, Murray, Michalanney
FB: Doedee, Butts/Keane, Jones
R: ROB, Laird, Soligo
Int: Murphy, Taylor, Thilthorpe, Sloane
Sub: Hamill

Strachan: "Had a small elbow issue last week so wasn't risked for the SANFL trial."

Oh crikey, Strachan will never make it as an AFL ruckman :tired:. (small elbows)
Had one, not has one ;)

Elbow augmentation is a pretty common and risk free procedure these days though.

The stigma around it is bewildering frankly.

The problem is I don't think that's true anymore. There isn't an "on his game", this is what he is now.

Yeah, look that is entirely possible. Given the potential upside i'd be willing to try it in an attempt to revive his career, at this best he is far better than we have currently so even at a lower level than his best than that it will be a win.

We will likely play him into form on the back of a thirty disposal, there goal game, whilst our coach jokes that we can still win without putting any pressure on him.

Sorry longer post.

Max - Murray- doddee
Dawson* - Keane- hinge
Jones- laird* Scholl
Pedlar- TT - rankine
Fog- Tex- gollant
Foll: berg/ obrien - berry- Rachelle
Int: soligo - hatley/keays - shoenberg- Taylor*
Sub: cook* or any of 4/5 people.

My thoughts are if there is to be golden tickets, these now need to be given to younger players over experienced* players. There is no point having kids in and out and playing out of position.

Team breakdown:
Defence: Murray on Dixon, Keane on Marshall, hinge on mr george.
Max to take a small, the dude to go back to intercepting and Dawson begins at half back.

Laird and Dawson have * as I think we need to have them interchangable midfield and half back.

Forwards: Tex, Thilthorpe, fog (if fit) rankine are given. Gollant should have replaced macadam and Pedlar should be used as part of a larger midfield/ hff mix.

Midfield: gets interesting here. Scholl retains, he’s a pure wing. Jones comes in other wing but needs to be attacking. Berry and shoenberg lucky here, but this is new golden ticket rule. Remaining rotation of known players are Rachelle, soligo and laird.

Multiple selection options: ruck, port are not dominant in ruck we either pull the trigger on the berg/ Thilthorpe combo and try get some movement in there or maintain ROB. Bigger body mid, either Harley or keays here, to cool off oppo dominance and provide size. I prefer Hatley, however if selected don’t put him on wing.

Finally the last bench spot and sub, I have Taylor on ground and cook as sub, however there could be 4 or 5 people here, regardless Taylor must play in some form.
