He clearly hasn't got a hamstring if he's listed as an emergency. FFS. Some of you people aren't happy unless you've got something to whinge about. He had ankle surgery. He's had a limited pre-season. He's probably pulled up a bit sore so they are managing him. He would play IF he had to. It really is just that simple.
Jenny, my post was sarcasm given what had been previously posted. ;)

Or there are aspects of his game they are not happy with and he has effectively been dropped.

Despite what some clown on AA says to Kane Cornes there is no way he would be an emergency if be had even a slight hammy.

Thats understandable . Except the part of 'he could play if he had to' . He is either being managed ( and I am all for it) but if this is the case then just say injury management , rest. No emergency no SANFL just rest. Or he is omitted . Then why not play SANFL. There is a mismatch in the message and the application

Poholke can play if he has to also.
I personally think ommitted. But not to an extent that he can't come in for a late change.

It is like Rocky's calf injury at Port.

Funny ... I only caught AFL360 late last night so I had no idea of the ins/outs. Thought Betts was the only in, Walker the only out.

Good to see Fog in there. Perfect opportunity to come back in and have an influence.

Fair to say Harry Dear missed his chance at our club? He seemed to have such potential, but just never broke through when it mattered. Is he done and dusted now?

He's fast, strong, and a good tackler. That's the positives.

He doesn't get enough of the pill, has extremely poor situational awareness, and even worse decision making skills (i.e. low football IQ). Those are the negatives. Factor in his injury history, and he's highly likely to be delisted at the end of the year.
At least you have been consistent with this call over the journey. Looking correct at this point.

Situational awareness comes with continuity of game time. In his early days at GWS he played purely on instinct and was pretty good doing it.

Then his body falls apart and the instincts fade. I reckon he has something to offer, but he'll likely be delisted I agree.

So wait, we were too tall a few weeks back, then brought in an extra tall player, and now we've brought in yet another tall player (I'm counting Kelly as a tall)?

Seems strange but I guess we'll see...

McGovern would have to be on his last chance, you'd think.

Not sure McGovern is quite yet on his last chance but for me he has been the disappointment of the year so far.

On a contract of 600-650k from reports he is a top 5 paid player at the club along with Tex, Sloane and Talia. Crows could not afford to lose him and Lever in the one year on money grounds and correctly chose to pay up for Mitch.

That said, we are clearly paying him on potential and with that you expect to see continued growth in performance - not the regression seen so far this year.

Still think he has exceptional talent (both skills and athleticism) and hope he starts putting it together shortly. Could be our ultimate X Factor in finals games.

spot on exactly what I was trying to say

I too am all for Knight being managed, if that is the decision that the High Performance Management team believe that the player will benefit from being management then rest the player. no emergency no SANFL, no extra training session, just rest

Noticed what football club the caller on 5AA was from. Handoff. a regular caller to the station always has the inside word with a 50% strike rate. But Allways inside information just ask them they will tell you.

But I believe Knight has been rested, and Ben Hart did let it slip he will on call for anyone breaking down in the warm-up.
It make sense when you look at who else do you omit, a sore player who not playing at his best or a fit player who not quite as good.

But one way we will find out either Sat or next week if he did have hamstring issues.

He appears to be really down on confidence at the moment. You can see it with his goal kicking. I think if he'd kicked the goal early against GC last week he would have been up and about a lot more.

I am sure it will come and with Blues and Bullies defence over the next 3 weeks let’s hope the worm turns. He has all the potential in the world, well at least the most untapped within our club!

Kelly: Itsa ham, hamd, hand! Yes hand.
Tex: Not a hamstring, just knows it's there. Quite different.
Mackay: Well dmac, its like you know... low glute, high at the back of the thigh area, type strain. Not a hammy.
Knight: Managed. Also sore in the upper leg area. NOT a hammy though. No siree.

Coming the day after Pyke announced that we'd solved any potential hamstring issues by modifying our training program.

Awk-ward :musicalnote:

I confidently predict that we will not have a hamstring injury for the rest of the season.

And if a player comes off clutching their hamstring or is spotted sitting on the bench with a huge ice pace on their hamstring, it will turn out to be one of those 'back-related' issues. Nothing to do with his hamstring you see.

Hmmm... spate of hamstrings. Poholke omitted so club happy to omit young players if required. Yet Knight managed. Smells like a hamstring to me. Hopefully more of the awareness than ping.

If he relies on his Goalkicking for confidence then he'll never have it. Has a very ordinary set shot action, I cringe when he takes a shot.

He may well be sore and actually being rested.

In which case he wouldn't be an emergency though.

I think we're bullshitting him. It's crap that we've picked 8 defenders. Obviously we were too gutless to drop one and have had to squeeze someone else out from another role.

That's Knight.

He knows on merit it's a bullshit call so we've dressed it up as us doing him a favour as he eases into the 2018 season.

Kills two birds with one stone for us. Means we don't have to make a tough, unpleasant call. Plus have a ready-made player to sit out of the SANFL game just in case.

Or he's injured and we're panicking about the hamstring PR. Backing that we'd never have to delve into a 4th emergency player so it's no biggie to name him.

The only way we'll know the truth is by seeing what happens if someone other than Jacobs pulls out sick/injured between now and game time.

Or if Knight comes straight back in next week

Matthew Lloyd the other day said when Essendon had a raft of soft-tissue injuries the other season there was nothing that could be done to reverse the 'work' that had happened in the pre-season

he predicted Adelaide's season to be de-railed by many more hamstrings to come
