Worrell was the guy I was most excited by when we drafted him. Not entirely sure why, just looks like a footballer.
Keen to see him get a run at some point this year. Sounds like he's tracking well.
When I saw him play I saw traces and traits of the Bont. I kid you not. I got excited because Bontempelli is probably my favourite footballer...particularly after I saw him destroy Port single handedly in the best wet weather display of skill I’ve ever witnessed, and even more impressive for a player of his size in those conditions.

If Worrell is half as good as Bont then we’re on a winner.

I just read in the Will Hamill article on AFL.com that Lachie Sholl has been moved onto the wing this year (bit annoying that it took an interview with his best mate for that info to finally get released).

I think a lot of people thought Sholl would have been knocking down the door all season, but at least this is a semi valid reason for him being further down the pecking order of selection. Learning a new role in scratch matches might take a few more weeks for him to get fully up to speed.

Probably a good thing, cause if he gets on the park as a wingman and impresses he has every opportunity to hold his spot in our side. Where-as we are so stacked at the small to medium defender position that he would run the risk of being another yoyo player.

I did hear Clarke saying last week that he was rolling through the midfield a bit more

So Mackay is in Sholl's exact position during this rebuilding year and is being selected in preference.

Perhaps the single worst example of our incompetence this season - and there's plenty of competition there.

Do me a favour, stop quoting me with the your same old continued negative anti the club/coaching/selection dribble....it's become just plain boring and of no interest to me.

Aren't you the one who's angry that Butts isn't getting a game? I'm happy with selections, as you have been in the past. I'm not sure what you're referring to. I couldn't be happier, only the kids that have earned it are getting a game. Good culture builder for the future.

Dont forget we will have farewell games in R17 regardless of the form Tex and Gibbs are in. Its almost a lock.

Mackay wont have a farewell game, he will have contract extension.

Tracking like Wigg. Drafted as a small defender, showed promise. Wouldn’t play him in that position and ruined his career by trying to turn him into a midfielder.

History repeats

Why did we even draft him then? Why spend a ND pick on a player you have no intention of using?

At least he's not being used as an inside mid I guess

It's worked wonders for Seedsman

Old Wiggy was our 2nd pick at the 2014 draft. Did not play a single game for us, but may well be the reserves games record holder.
He wouldn't even be on the podium.

CEY, Brodie Martin and Sam Shaw would all be ahead of him. We've held onto lots of players for longer and we traded Wigg out too where he went on and played a few reserves games with GC

Yep he was rubbish once we took him out of his preferred position. Glad we only wasted a 2nd rounder on him. Not worth much the 2nds as we showed the following year by gifting 2nds for Hampton and Menzel.

I'd rather not be like yourself, no offence.

None taken, I was close to thinking we'd turned the corner myself. I've come to the conclusion that we're working against a deliberate club philosophy. And that changing coaches won't change that because only coaches with aligned philosophies get a 2nd interview. To me, there's too much evidence of no change to have any hope left that there will be.

I remember the reason for sticking with continuity and playing the senior guys was that we were mostly still a mathematical chance of playing finals. You could understand that to an extent. Now we're no chance and you can see the club ignoring the future because they're desperate for 4 points. Maybe there's a sweet spot in between there somewhere, but so far, no matter where we've been, from top to now bottom, we've not looked any further forward than this weekend's points on offer. Actually, there was that one time where we didn't play Hendo in a final, after being our best the week before, to avoid his games trigger.

I'm resigned to finishing bottom, possibly winless, whilst playing pretty much our most experienced team and not getting a look at players who seem to deserve a crack. Matt Clarke said something interesting about Sholl. He's in the 2s learning his midfield craft. Why is he not in the seniors playing out of the back half in place of Kelly or wing in place of Mackay. There's a spot for him now in his actual role or one not too different from it. Why have we moved him into a line where he's behind 2 or 3 others that aren't in the 22 yet?

If you were behind Mackay and Kelly you would start questioning your ability.

Preseason. More importantly which senior player injured him? Likely has Hartigan's clumsy fingerprints all over it.
Smith apparently.

Fog put him on the deck and everyone laughed, until they realised Fog was hurt.
