We didn't just trade him for the sake of it though, we traded him because we were going into rebuild mode and he was almost 28 looking for a 4 year deal, we offered him a contract but weren't prepared to meet his demand re contract length, and going by what he's said since money wasn't the issue.

No we didn't, we weren't in rebuild mode at all. We delisted Dougie and forced JJ out for off-field hassles. Mackay re-signed, Keath and Hugh had 2 year contracts in front of them, Sauce 1 year at a good rate but less overall than 2 at GWS, Betts chose to go after being told he won't be first choice. Rebuild is only mentioned now to explain 2hy we've gone to shit. And we're doing it playing nearly the oldest team available. Gibbs and Knight, that's it.

But you've always been right, kids have to earn it and every one that has earned it is presently in the 22. We're playing the kids this year. If you're not in the side yet then you're simply not good enough yet or haven't earned the chance. Our selectors know what they're doing.

The only changes this week are Frampton for Walker and Seeds man for Walker

Are we better or worse for the changes?

Worse. Frampton equal to Tex's season so far and he can ruck a little bit. Seed to replace Sloane? Sloane's been mid/fwd, that's not Seed. So where does Seed play? Wing, half back? So who from there last week goes forward? We've gone from 1 or 2 too many wing/half backs to 2 or 3 too many. An extra player is out of position to bring in Seed's experience. Injured Tex for Frampton is pure AFC stupidity.

I hope i won't get into trouble for this, so very sorry if i cause any disruption, but i am genuinely curious as to what Gibbs has been doing and why he isn't being played.

I've search thru the forums, afl app etc but i just cant seem to find much information on him.

He was one of players i enjoyed seeing play at Carlton, so i wished him well at Adelaide. I haven't been following the footy much, so i am out of the loop.

Good luck on your next game.
He isn't being played as age has caught up with him and he's not up to it. Should never have been brought into the club at his age and for what we gave up. Not the first player who's career is over at 31.

I'm hopeful with the upcoming run of condensed games we see the whole squad.

I admire you're seemingly endless forward points of hope. There's always something in the future that will prove that there's been genuine cultural change. I think just give up, only Gibbs and Knight missing from our oldest available group and we've bought Tex back still injured. There has been no change at selection because there's been no change where it matters and that's the total club philosophy of 4 points or further % this week being more important than anything that can happen in the future. And that includes when we're on the cusp of a finals campaign. We have the most near sighted philosophy of any club in the history of the competition. And you can see it in all it's glory under Neil Craig and it hasn't changed to this day.

Do me a favour, stop quoting me with the your same old continued negative anti the club/coaching/selection dribble....it's become just plain boring and of no interest to me.

Sloaney is definitely in the media, but i agree that he isn't as prominent as Tex was.

The thing about Sloaney is he is clearly a great and really nice guy.

He's very loyal and he's your typical "best mate".

However he isn't very sophisticated and doesn't really have a lot of insight.

Tex, if you can get over the way he speaks, you'll see that he is actually very intelligent and is a deep thinker and has strong views on the game.

You can see this in the way he plays, he sees plays unfolding way before other players to do.

So i suspect Sloaney just doesn't offer the views or insights that a lot of media agencies are looking for.

I recall seeing him rev up the boys prior to heading out of the race before 1 game. It was just the incredibly simplistic 'rah, rah, boys' type stuff. Maybe all the captains do it, but it looked really simple and pedestrian.

I'd rather not be like yourself, no offence.

Everyone realises its possible for us to fluke a win and still finish bottom and get that #1 pick (before the AFL brings in a lottery system). I’d like to see us have a win!

I would rather us fluke a win against a decent side and call it quits for the year and collect Pick 1.

Saints aint that side.

Maybe a good win against a top 4 side in one of our last games of the year with the kids showing the way, will lead to an enjoyable preseason.

Talia speaks better than both of them. He seems more invested in the club being successful, rather than worrying about his golf game or his pub portfolio. Lynch too, even though he annoys me on the field.

I agree, personally I still think Sloane was going to leave or was strongly considering it until he hurt his foot. Obviously family was a big part in that decision but as much as I love him I wouldn't of made him Captain after that.

Might not want the title, has never been a massive media person.
He’s actually a great speaker when he does.
For all the shit he cops on field he’s a class act speaking.

Have to agree on that one that Sloane was more than likely on his way back to Victoria until his foot injury. Still don't know why he was given 5 years if interest had decreased interstate which i am fairly certain it had. I really rate no nonsense players that don't leverage the club. I understand it's a business completely but I did not like how the whole thing played out. You could put Jenkins and Lynch in that category as well. I am happy Doedee is interim captain as he seems a capable committed leader who wants to see the club do better. I would hope he is captain next year.

Any win would be great for the team and the fans, Saints in Adelaide is a great opportunity, but I haven't seen much this year to suggest we will

The saints are not a bad side. At their best they are top 6 and at their worst they are around 10th to 12th. Their big problem is consistency and lapses in games. I feel they will be smarting after that loss last week and should be pretty switched on this week. This game is a mini final for them as they have powaa next week at AO which will likely be a loss. If we keep up with them until half time that will be a win for us in my book. If we can curb Hill, Butler, Billings, Membrey, Marshall, and King we are in with a chance.
