Certainly, already got the mature frame and the attitude for it. On the Fort-Day question I think Fort deserves to stay in till Day bangs down that door. Fagan also doesn't usually make unforced changes to winning teams unless it's for a top quality, known quantity player.

I think Day will be brought back in. IM SORRY DONT HATE ME SAUCEY

Fort did well in a pinch but would go for Day this week as a forward/ruck instead of a ruck/forward. Also I feel like he was going to get the role before his family tragedy so I think it's just reverting to the preferred best 22 not 'dropping' WD-40. Also it sends a great compassionate message to the rest of the team (and its fans) that you won't be disadvantaged at selection for putting family before football when needed

Hope it's OK but is there any particular reason why an aging Darcy Fort is preferred over Henry Smith when looking to the future cause I'm pretty sure Adelaide might come calling pretty soon?

He’s been underdone through the preseason

Interesting times.

You would expect a response from WCE but also fairly low confidence. Start well and you get them well and truly on the back foot.

I would go

OUT Lohman IN Cameron. Bailey for me has to play that deeper forward / half forward now. He was aweome on the weekend. Not sure why he moved back to the wing?

OUT Fort IN Day - nothing against Fort and we might go with him again soon but need to get a look at Day.

FORWARD LINE IS:
Talls - Day, Hipwood, Morris
Smalls / Mids: Cameron, Bailey, Rayner, Ch Chee

OUT: Starcevich IN: Brain? / Dev? / McKenna?

I am a bit torn with this one. Starce give great rebound and intercept but only because he is good enough to beat his opponent AND give rebound. So i think first and foremost we need a player alongside Answerth to stop scoring. I think Brain displayed his best on exposed form. But he allegedly didn't play on the weekend so i am not sure where that leaves him?
I am not sure McKenna can be disciplined enough to be lockdown. Dev i can't see it but love his pace and tackling so i reckon it could work.
I thought Wilmot was excellent on the weekend which makes me feel okay about the back 7.

It definitely feels very manageable for now without Lohman, Coleman, Mcarthy, Doedee, Starcevich in terms of overall depth. But Starce to me is so hard to fill. In terms of a one-two of tall-mid defenders who can intercept and defend, Andrews and Starce are best in the comp by a mile

I can’t see Brain being selected until he shows that he has improved his defensive work at stoppages. He was absolutely torched in the last 5 minutes of the GWS and Collingwood games that we lost last year, giving up 3 goals which cost us both games. I would think he will have to really work on that aspect of his game in the VFL before he gets another shot. (He was dragged straight away in the Collingwood game even there were only a couple of minutes left).

1 to 2 weeks on only for Lohmann. Phew!
What a boost to the start of the working week. Hell yeah!

Why would they consider dropping Fort for Day ? I'd be going Hipwood first but even then I still wouldn't drop him for Day
Fagan said Day was to play until the death of his father.
So that's the assumption on my and other posters thoughts.
Also played that role through all the match sims and preseason games.

I also think we need a forward/ruck over a ruck/forward.
Time will tell how the team evolves after Joe's retirement, starting with Day forward & ruck relief.

So there was nothing really wrong with him & he should've just run it out like we did back in the day with an ACL?

Soft.

Edit: Oh, and don't get me started on Starcevitch.... Starcevich? However you spell it. Life after football is over rated. Get back out there son.

Edit Edit: This post wasn't serious.

I'd be happy enough to see Dev given a shot at replacing Starce. I also wouldn't mind seeing a guy like Bruce get a shot at the role. He's arguably among our 3 best tacklers (with Dunkley and Kiddy) and would have the strength to match up on those more solidly build small forwards.

Maybe horses for courses, Dev may be better suited to the smaller, nippier types.

Thinking Toby Greene vs Tyson Stengle as an example of that contrast.

Interesting Dev and Bruce are the same height (185cm), altho I've always had the sense Bruce plays taller for some reason.
