Just saw another angle of the Starc incident. So many people on here stating how the contact was innocuous. It was head on head contact!

For all of you that think one head is as hard as another, you clearly haven't played rugby in high school.

I remember playing rugby for Nerang in grade 9 against Keebra Park where dudes had beards (same grade as us, but now thinking about it they may not have been the same age)...... I can tell you now, those heads were not the same as ours.

Hope it's OK but is there any particular reason why an aging Darcy Fort is preferred over Henry Smith when looking to the future cause I'm pretty sure Adelaide might come calling pretty soon?
Fort is a better footballer.

That said, instead of Robertson you could play Reville as Sub.

Very keen to see Brain get an extended run in the side as I think there’s every chance he becomes a regular senior player. He keeps adjusting to each level he is exposed to.

That said, if it’s Dev, I’d be happy for him. For his sake, hoping he can do a Liam Jones where a positional change clicks for him and he makes the grade.

I guess first & foremost we're looking at back to back premierships first?

I know no one that works at the club so have no inside information about this, but I reckon there's a fair chance we have a pretty solid back of house organisation going on here that is talking to Henry on a regular basis regarding his development & future options.

I'd be happy enough to see Dev given a shot at replacing Starce. I also wouldn't mind seeing a guy like Bruce get a shot at the role. He's arguably among our 3 best tacklers (with Dunkley and Kiddy) and would have the strength to match up on those more solidly build small forwards.

Maybe horses for courses, Dev may be better suited to the smaller, nippier types.

Thinking Toby Greene vs Tyson Stengle as an example of that contrast.

Interesting Dev and Bruce are the same height (185cm), altho I've always had the sense Bruce plays taller for some reason.
Bruce has better hair, so he stands taller.

Answerth not in your team. Is that on purpose?
If so i hope not

Answerth had moments that really stood out for me. Real desaparation at stages, though not the silkiest. I'd keep him in.

Is he a better KPF?
I think he is and that makes him a better proposition, because he is stronger in that role and stronger in the ruck. Fort competes harder and is more likely to provide a contest and bring the ball to ground. To be fair, Henry Smith has only played four games and he is yet to score a goal. His career is just starting. That said, Smith played more senior games than Fort last year, but Fort is a Premiership player.

How can you say Fort competes harder as a KPF without seeing Day play though? Days maar game as a KPF he took six contested marks. On the weekend we sorely missing someone capable of taking contested marks up forward and Morris is a second year player.

I don't think any of the above is an ideal option and have their weaknesses, but IMO the thing we were missing most was a pack crasher who can take a contested mark.

Fort is 100% the better ruck, but IMO it is much easier to cover second ruck than it is a contested marking key forward.

I agree with everything above. The only thing I would add is that in the practice games that Day did play, he was poor and mobility looked to be a factor.

I think Fort offers more as a total package but it’s really splitting hairs.

Fort had a very limited prep this year and he can go better than what he did on Saturday. The thing about Fort is that he always does something even if it doesn't seem a lot and he competes strongly ,tries hard.

We haven't seen Day at the level in our structure and obviously the intention is to play him so let's see how he goes. I know he's shown a capacity to take contested marks but he is 32 so you'd hope he's had games where he's taken a few if he's primarily a forward not overburdened with pace.

Hey Nunez. I was comparing Fort with Smith. As far as the Fort / Day comparison goes, I am agnostic, although I do believe that you shouldn't be dropping Fort after his Grand Final game and very solid performance against Sydney. I think Fagan will probably take a similar view. Very happy to have Day in the team, but I would like to see some form in the Ressies first.

Simply put, I can't come at dropping Fort, a PREMIERSHIP HERO who had a good game against Sydney in favour of Day until Day makes a compelling case. I agree that Fort is 100% better ruck and on balance, that, plus his ability to hit the scoreboard, should keep him in the team.

Nice to have options though.

Yeah I can’t watch rucks play kpf all year. Need someone with specialist forward craft and contested marking ability.

Listening to SEN right now, had minor heart failure. Whateley reported something to the effect “…and Michael Whiting reporting devastating news, confirmation Charlie…”

NNNNNOOOOO….

“Ballard has ruptured his ACL.”

That is devastating for Charlie Ballard, and no disrespect to him, but it doesn’t upset me nearly as much as i thought the news was going to.

Last year we found players who stepped up big time due to injuries. I'm not saying the same will happen this year, but maybe we can find another lohhman in this situation?
