Changes round 4 VS Sydney

Sydney could possibly play all off Franklin, Reid, Naismith, Tippet/Sinclair. With 3 of them up forward for most of the game I wouldn't be surprised for our 3 tall defenders to all be in. Gov, Barrass and Emac.
Jetta should get another go this week as he is yet to play at Subi as he missed last home game.
Sheed has to come in after the weekend.
Shepp and Darls are the two more notable concerns with Vards and Mitch a possibility.

This is going to be a very interesting selection night.

At a guess
Out - Shep, Darling, Ummmmm, Aahhhhhhh Nelson maybe
In - Emac, Sheed, Ummmmmm, Aarrgghhh, Mmmmmmm Watson/Lamb/Butler/Schoey maybe
What's wrong with Shepp this year. Has he been playing injured for usually he's Mr Reliable, but have noticed he seems a bit off this year so far?

Read the byline.

When he says "it is understood that..." he means "I'm guessing that...".

In the same way he "understood" that Kennedy was havaing season endin shoulder surgery halfway through the year he won his first Coleman.

Schofield and Butts are the two most senior guys stuck in the WAFL and they love Jetta based on the way they talk about him on the podcast.

You have studied journalism I see.

Only real tough campaigners repeat "Jetta is soft, Jetta is soft, pea heart"... ad nauseum over and over.

His role isn't to be tough, it isn't to win contested ball, it's to balance the turtle brigade of Priddis, Mitchell, Sheed, Hutchings, Redden and Marsden out. If you're going to criticize him then do it properly and question his kicking, or his lack of run as those things actually are his job.

Clearly people still need this explained to them each and every ******* week. It's giving me an aneurysm.

Also, **** you. I'll **** everyone on here.
The weird thing is other players are never targeted for the same thing. Mitchell only had 2 more contested possessions. Hutchings and Masten the same number.

The other thing is the Darling hate. He had 16 disposal, 6 marks and 4 tackles. Its not outstanding but that's not a quiet day for a key forward.

Dunno if I'd want Emac to come in if Gov goes forward after his last AFL game, I'd prefer Schofield tbh.

Schofield isn't strong enough to handle Buddy. He can run and keep up with him and take an intercept mark / spoil but one on one gets beat. EMac owned Buddy before the knee in one on one contests and if anyone is going to control Buddy it would be EMac. Barrass still has too many tricks to learn.

Post-knee Mackenzie isn't strong enough to handle Buddy either.

He's much stronger and confident this year. Had a great preseason and it would be a great challenge for him coming in fresh.

McGovern isn't the right match up and neither is Barrass.

Between Schofield and EMac I'd go EMac.

stopping buddy wont be about the budster

it will be stopping the swans midfield ...if we can win the midfield battle and get it going our way then we will be ok

its then a case of how do they stop Kennedy - we have enough midfield depth. WE could be 3-0 we could be 1-2

2-1 with a home game is a good place to be ....time too hunt

We really need a defender that is a one on one pure defender like Emac and Schofield because as good as Gov and Barrass are at taking that intercept marks there are times when it doesn't come off and they are let well out of position and this happened a fair bit in the North game where their tall players got the ball with ease.

I'd actually like to see both those guys come in for Darling (if unfit) and Vardy. Probably for some unpopular reasons:

1. Giles seems to work best when given the majority ruck load.
2. Schofield and McGovern could easily pinch hit as backup with the other in the back line.
3. I feel Ezy has some potential as a forward. He's good overhead and a quite accurate set shot. This may allow Kennedy up the ground and into the game more, and maybe the focus going inside 50 goes away from the one person.

Of course all the above relies on Giles / Mackenzie / Schofield actually playing well.

I'd also like to see Butler as consideration as a small stopper. Jax loves to be physical and run, but his actual defense in killing contests and turning balls over leaves a lot to be desired. Sheppard seems to be in Butler's roles whilst Jax is in the team taking his role, and I think Shep plays it better. Wellingham seems to be an enigma - looks like best rebounding defender one minute, and the next is turning a simple handball into an opposition goal.

Yeo needs to stay where he is, because for all his athletic gifts he is dumb as a box of hammers on a footy field. K.I.S.S. should be his mantra.

One last thing, if I could reverse the Sinclair / Jetta trade I'd do it in a heartbeat and not wasted list spots on Petrie or Vardy.

Not having a go but Vardy will likely end up being a better player for us (if he can stay fit) than Sinclair ever will be. For all Sinclair's effort, he is the nearly man and he has had his own injury and form issues at the Swans. He had a good year/half year for us before the trade but he is no great loss. Injuries to our rucks (which couldn't have been predicted) make him seem far better than he really was/is. Of course, he would be handy now though if he was still on our list.

Nick Smith says Naismith and Tippett still might fly over to Perth. Training back in Sydney. Callum Sinclair only ruckman here at the moment

If they are going in with one ruckman and no Tippet i think we definitely go down the one ruckman route. Vardy has surprised me in the ruck but i think Giles is the one i can see his body holding out and rucking out the game.

Look, Vardy could well be. He showed flashes of brilliance in games for Geelong, but most of that was when he was played forward which WCE seem reluctant to do.

I'm ambivalent about Petrie. The thing about Sinkers was he actually gave effort, and seemed to fit in well with the club. I'd prefer his high effort / low ceiling over Jetta's low effort / (supposedly) high ceiling.

I also don't like the way he arrived at the club, like it was a foregone conclusion that we would trade for him without really evaluating his performance. There was one big season. There was also 3 poor seasons, and 17 behinds before a goal. It seems the club, as well as many AFL fans seem to weight the good performance much more than the bad.

Good Lord, it's Mitch Brown all over again.
