Need to find Sloane a role for the first 2.5/3 quarters where he can contribute, before throwing him in the guts for the 4th quarter where he’s at his best.

I’d like to see him a bit more as a HF early before going into the middle later in the game.

Well this is going to be an interesting selection week. Smith and Hinge are automatic selections and unfortunately for Worrell, Milera was lights out today. So, on that logic:

Out: Worrell, McHenry (demoted to sub)

In: Smith, Hinge.

We will learn alot from this game and we should select the best side we have and preference the bigger more athletic player.

Sholl (completely ineffective after quarter time, and his disposal efficiency is overrated - no penetration or hurt factor in his kicking at all)
Parnell (a given)

Because dropping Doedee is absolutely no chance of happening in reality, and also because Sholl is the new Mackay who inexplicably now gets picked every week despite others clearly offering more, I think we’re far more likely to see…

Side note 1: if we drop Worrell, after he COMFORTABLY out-performed all of Doedee, Butts and Michalanney in defense today, we are on a path to nowhere as a club. Surely we won’t do such a stupid thing. I’ll give the selectors the benefit of the doubt and say this won’t happen.

Side note 2: Sloane was AWFUL up until 3/4 time today, but magically transformed himself into THE best player on the ground in the 4th qtr. I wouldn’t bother managing him against GC because the bye is coming up, and we could give him a week off against West Coast if we like too, but I think it’s looking pretty likely.

Agree with the first bit, he was our worst to 3/4 time. Should have been subbed then. He was good in the last q but not the best.
Needs a good rest and then would make a good sub in the second half of the year.

Hinge is not an automatic selection

Hinge is 100% an automatic selection for two reasons: you aren't leaving a genuine two-way defender in the SANFL in an era where rebounding from D50 is king, and it sets an awful precedent that you can lose your spot for putting your body on the line. That one is club killing, as to win big matches, you need lads who are willing to sacrifice their safety and that only occurs if they're not going to be internally punished for it.
