Prediction Changes v Port

Don't have an issue with going tall this week, match ups makes sense. Lukewarm on Cole if I'm honest, good to see him get a few weeks in the seniors but he's developing and going back to East Perth, like Mutimer has, is just the reality of where he is at. You'd want a player to be pretty special before giving him automatic best 22 status before he's played 10 games. Relax Cole fanboys, his name is not Partington or Lamb so all that will likely be required to get back in is play a few weeks back there between the not terrible-actually pretty decent spectrum and wait for another opportunity. Don't have Priddis or Le Cras in my personal best 22 but they are both rested so either they might come back and play better footy or they don't and they are one step closer to being phased out of the side for 2019/2020 or whenever MC has them penciled in for retirement, either way thats some sort of positive.

Did he get the biscuit?? will he get the biscuit?? that's the big if. How do you judge a coach?? you judge them on their decision makings so you can gauge their mindset and level of approach. Simmo is failing in that department. This is why I got Keys mad when i said Simmo is crap and needs to be replaced even if we somhow win a flag. Why?? he is a repeat offender now with enough sample size to say that he has no guts, contradicts his own selection criteria on several occasions and loves to be stubborn with his senior players. This is a game where I would actually want to see priddis get destroyed by his direct opponent so Simmo can no longer avoid the question.
You can take the bloke out of Norf.......

Trying to rationalise the changes as best I can

1) Hurn for Butler - butler was injured and Hurn was ready to return after a game out with a concussion and reportedly a hamstring twinge. This one was a no brainer and the one change that can be universally agreed upon

2) Priddis for Redden - on most recent form this is hard to justify. Redden was good against the dogs and is really unlucky to miss out especially when Priddis wasn't playing well before he was rested with soreness. Other than saying the MC see something Priddis provides that we don't and rate him highly as a result I've got nothing. Priddis needs a big game to reward the MC's faith. I hope he does

3) Lecras for Masten - Masten wasn't an effective player last week so no big surprise he's again been dropped. Could/should have been replaced by Partington. Why Lecras? It has to be because they believe he's free of the injury that has been used to explain his drop off in output after a pretty good start to the season. We need scoring power so I'm ok with this change assuming he has healed. As with Priddis he needs to repay the faith

4) Lycett for Cole - not a like for like swap but a restructure. Lycett plays ruck/forward and Gov goes back to help combat Ports tall forwards which pushes Cole out. Arguably makes us too tall but against Port 7 is just within the acceptable range of talls. I suspect they'd like to have given Lycett one more WAFL game but due to EP having a bye they didn't want to stall his progress and have kept him playing which is fair enough as we need him to find his best footy again. Wellingham probably just shaded Cole last week so keeps his spot ahead of the youngster

Not what I hoped to see changes wise and one is hard to fathom

On Sunday we get to see if the concerns are validated or if the MC got it right. I hope it's the latter
3) Lecras for Masten - Masten wasn't an effective player last week so a like-for-like change with one ineffective player for another.

Well, Priddis and LeCras have been declared 100% fit so by golly they'd better perform. It's just so depressing that last week we saw an exciting glimpse of the future, full of pace and dynamism, and now we're straight back to tall and slow with guys that have regularly let us down in the crunch.

You can't have priddis mitchell hutch and redden in the same midfield .

At least our MC has figured that out .

But Petrie gov darling lycett barrass Emac vardy may be 1 too many talls . Gov will have to play back and Petrie as a permanent forward with darling doing a lot up the ground to make it work
Hutch to Robbie Grey?

After you called me out yesterday for not understanding the extended bench yesterday considering the only one I had wrong was Wellingham in (which TBH makes the changes EVEN WORSE), can I melt yet?!?!?:mad::mad: Or do I have to wait till next weekend because I already used my schoolgirl melt card up yesterday?

Sensible post. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the reasoning behind it.
Petrie has more than earned a spot as a forward in JK's absence. Moving an extra tall defender against a team whose talls spanked us last time we played seems a wise decision.

This is a great opportunity to get Lycett back on track. The only issue is for the poor sod who gets cut for JK in a months time.

Nah, you already melted yesterday and you don't get two licks of the ice cream. :)

Shepp played on Gray last time and did a very good job

Hutchings to go to either Wingard or as FiveStrings suggested in the podcast to Pittard to stifle his run off half back like he did with Johannisen

happy lycett's back, bulldogs game aside (they're hardly known for their rucking prowess) we've been really screaming for a quality ruck all season. cole out for hurn makes sense.

redden out... bit harsh i thought he played pretty well last week tbh, or is this acceptance from the MC that him and priddis can't play in the same side? but the real shocker for me is lecras back in, been putrid for a while now, no excuses for a poor performance this time.

edit: actually, what's the bet lecras turns the clock back and kicks 6 goals vs port, only to stink it up for the rest of a year and get a contract extension?

Pittards been pretty average this season. Maybe Wines. taking their number one contested player out of the game might be the go and really help us in a contested game.

Now that we've selected such a senior team we HAVE to perform like a contender this week otherwise our match committee really are clueless. If we're not contending with a team of this experience whilst seemingly not focused on giving the kids a long run at it then our club is just being set back further and further every week.

Didn't Pittard get dropped recently? Is he back in form Pittard?
WCE_phil Suggested Wingard too. Makes sense.
Hutch to Gray if he goes mid I spose.
Be intersting to see How ebert goes. I liked him a lot!

Quite frankly I wouldn't be surprised if she hadn't gave him a first.
Were they your footprints I saw outside our bedroom window ?

Maybe Hartlett then? I haven't seen a lot of Port, I just thought Hutch could go to a running half-back and Pittard was the name that came to mind.

My theory was based on Redden surviving the cut though, and us needing to use one of our glut of inside mids elsewhere. That's less of an issue now.
