this is a pretty big game for us; its a massive logjam in the fight for top 4; percentage is going to be crucial. Ours is pretty good but a big win here would be very helpful to get us up above challengers for our spot. really don't wanna see any of the traditional post bye blues; need to come out and hit them hard from minute one; they are severely undermanned and we need to take advantage of that.
Yeah, I like that and realistically, we should beat them easily but..

We are notoriously bad after a bye and they were actually right in the game until the last minutes against Nth (can say what you like about Nth but they are playing well above, this season).

Unfortunately, they might have to play all of Guthrie, Selwood and Taylor. The VFL/AFL games are all over the shop the next couple of weeks so if they miss Friday but play Sunday in the VFL, they probably miss the Thursday night game in Sydney as well. The same happens again with VFL and Thursday in Adelaide the following week. They need to come in now.

I don't mind bringing in all those 3 and Narkle. Taylor most likely gets pushed forward (I don't agree with that just think it happens) and Hawk will backup ruck again or Taylor switches back when Blicavs relief rucks. Doggies only have Boyd so we aren't going to be massively impacted there.

Out: McCarthy, Gregson, Parsons, Zuthrie
In: Narkle, Selwood, Taylor, Cuthrie
Taylor - Our defense is still the best in the league and do we really need him at the moment? He's isn't a forward either and with Menzel likely to return there's no room there as well.

Guthrie - Similar to Taylor and he can stay in the VFL as far as I'm concerned. Did nothing last week to suggest he'll be of any benefit to the team. Although he'd be a better option than his brother.

Selwood - Yes, we need a tagger and you'd think he'd replace Murdoch.

Narkle - Has earnt his debut.

But I get your point. The scheduling is quite atrocious.

So excited about seeing young Narkle play in the AFL team
Truly hoping he adds an element we haven't had with our small forwards for some time
Goalkicking!!!
I really think if he fits successfully into the team, with Menzel and Cockatoo yet to come back, we might have the making of a very exciting forward structure.
And as Scott said today, he thinks Ratagolea will get back this season, very very exciting forward structure
Cockatoo Hawkins Parfitt
Narkle Ratagolea Menzel

Also very happy Scott stated that Smith has been out because of issues with his body. Promising if he comes good too

I would have for this game
In: Menzel, Narkle, S.Selwood, Taylor
Out: Parsons, Gregson, Zuthrie, McCarthy

So this week's lineup

Bews Blicavs Henry
Stewart Taylor Tuohy
Kelly S.Selwood Duncan
Menegola Hawkins Parfitt
Narkle Dangerfield Menzel
Stanley J.Selwood Ablett

Cunico Murdoch Kolo Fogarty
Em: Buzza, Thurlow, C.Guthrie

Bring it on, it has been too long a wait

So would I but that's because the general standard is utterly appalling.

Put on absolutely any commentator from the World Cup and the difference is staggering.

It's absolutely perplexing why Australian TV - Fox Footy + Ch7 have commentary to appeal to the lowest common denominator!

Scott spoke about having to map out a plan for the next 3 weeks due to AFL team being on Fri-Thu-Thu and the VFL on The weekend leading to 5-6 day breaks.

Suspect that despite an almost non existent injury list now that we’ll see a couple of players held over from VFL to possibly be ready for an AFL game the following week. Shit scheduling.

VFL team also looking exciting this week

O'Connor House Thurlow
Zuthrie Henderson Simpson
Crameri GHS Parsons
Miers Gardner Cockatoo
Jones Buzza Gregson
Smith Constable Guthrie
I/C Abbott, Hayball, and the best VFL listed players

They might just give them 2 quarters and then pull them out.

I don't watch much footy anymore so I only saw the first part of the 1st quarter and they looked quite good. The bias from the commentary team, The corrupt nature of Michael Christian and the AFL and the umpiring has turned me off the game.

I'll attempt to watch it tonight but I won't hold my breath that it'll last long.

We really should beat the Dogs comfortably though given who they're missing but my only concern is bringing too many underdone players back at once.
Yep, agree, despite the dog’s improvement last week, I expect to win well. The dog/north was a really good game. It’s just a cycle Nakia-footy will get better again.
I expect tonight to be a good game.

it's just a boy's club, it's almost as bad as the cricket commentary on 9

only good commentator is Jason Bennett

if only commentators called the game and didnt make it about them

The one thing I don't miss when at the game is tv commentary - I can't always see what's happening on the other side of the ground or not necessarily sure of all the opposition players names but it's still better then listening to crap tv commentary

The best cricket commentator was Alan McGilvray!

Cometti was the best. The current guys all suck. And BT makes me want to switch the TV off.

I wish there was the option of having krock commentary come through ch 7. Can't just mute the TV and put krock on the radio cause of the delay.

Actually my dvd recorder does live pause, I could just pause it for a little bit until it synchs up and then press play. Now if only I had a radio in the loungeroom lol.
I play KRock from the AFL website - have your phone or iPad next to you.

Interesting. I certainly remember Dick Mason but wasn't aware that he mentored Dennis.

Another problem we have with footy on TV is the endless slow motion replays we are subjected to and of course the commentators prattle on about what has happened rather than what's happening. Channel 7 are TERRIBLE at this. Even when they cover tennis it's replay after replay sometimes of a drop of slow motion perspiration drippling from the end of a player's nose. The 7 producers are like kids with a new toy that they over-do to the max as the novelty hasn't worn off. When I get to see the occasional game of footy on pay TV the number of replays appears to be far fewer and the commentary generally less inane than on 7.
Doubt that he mentored him, Mason just very early on realised that TV called for a different type of commentary to radio, and used it.

I'm really pleased you left Henry in the team.

If you're not watching the game, but play the radio from the AFL website, while keeping an eye on the updating AFL stats on that site, you will notice that
- ABC radio callers are accurate and pretty complete in calling and naming who is actually getting the ball,
- SEN callers are fairly good
- KRock callers are very, very poor in these respects, and seem more far more interested in blokey drivel and regurgitating adverts of an appallingly inane quality.

I get confused with KRock's use of Advertisers' names in place of footy jargon. It's a Wombat Gully!-what the hell is that?
