Sinn shouldn't be in the AFL team. He has been set up horribly for failure. You can't just play a kid in a role he hasn't been practising at a lower level, one he is being absolutely embarrassed in at AFL level, and keep persisting with him, unless he's extremely gifted and Sinn has not shown that level, not anywhere near it.

Sinn needs to go back to the SANFL, play the role they want him in at AFL level, and demonstrate good enough form to warrant an opportunity.

Right now Burgoyne is ahead of Sinn as a winger and as a half back and is being held back by the persistence with a non performing kid.

If Rioli comes in, Narkle or Bonner should replace Sinn. Burgoyne should be in the running for a sub spot.

He hasn't been embarrassed at all. It's not like Sinn's opponents have gotten ahold of us and threatened to take the game away from us. He's shown a few things, learned a few things, made a few mistakes. That's all.

We're not talking Zac Dawson v Anthony Rocca here. Not even Teakle v Draper/Marshall.

We'll agree to disagree. He has had 12 disposals across about 6 quarters. With a fair few terrible and costly moments amongst it. He's got potential, but right now isn't performing and doesn't deserve the development games ahead of others.

I agree with all of that. It was worth giving him a couple of games to get a feel. He's got a feel, now he has to go back and earn that spot.

Maybe we just have different thresholds for what constitutes an embarrassing performance. Like I said, I link that more to the Leon Davis touchless GF, or even what Artie Jones (WBD) put in against us in R14 (also zero touches).

Not a half dozen disposals in a hot game, before getting subbed when we're 30 points in front.

I think this is the game that you pick the absolute best team you have, just to get the second half of the season underway with a win.

I think Sinn has done his apprenticeship for now. He would have gotten so much from the past few weeks.

I’d go Rioli in. Narkle to the wing to further learn our game plan. Sinn out. Burgoyne sub.

Bombers’ burning question: Can they defend without the ball?

Essendon may be in the finals race, but they’ve got a big issue they need to sort out – being ranked 18th in defending opposition ball movement. “It’s been a real area of concern for them … it’s a work in progress,” Leigh Montagna said on AFL 360. And he singled out one player who needed to lift and help his side out defensively. “Nic Martin, defensively what he is doing is having a sign impact on the team. He is conceding the most uncontested possessions in the competition. He concedes the most marks in the comp and he concedes the most disposals of any wingman … While he’s having a really good year offensively, he is hurting his team defensively.”

Power’s burning question: When does the magical run end?

There’s no denying Port Adelaide have been galvanised by the early scrutiny surrounding out-of-contract coach Ken Hinkley. And when Hinkley’s job was labelled “untenable”, the Power responded in a big way. And they haven’t dropped a game since. They’ve now won a club record 11-straight wins – but head into the clash against Essendon off the bye … and we know no side has claimed a win off their mid season break against a side who played the week prior. Port’s winning streak will surely end at some point pre-finals … but will it be this weekend as the bye curse continues? Or will it be in the coming rounds?

We'll lose the Geelong game at piss park surely. Always lose there.

No team news yet?

Other than Bergman’s contract announcement, it’s been strangely quiet from the club this week.

IN: J Rioli
OUT: Q Narkle, J Sinn (omitted)
LAST WEEK’S SUB: R Bonner

Emergencies: T Jonas 1, J Burgoyne 36, D Visentini 38, Q Narkle 47

Love the Dante emergency pick. Narkle for sub. Good call on all fronts.

I could take or leave Sinn staying in but Bonner hasn't done much wrong and I'm okay with putting together a finals like team for stability.....

I'd always welcome a Visentini debut though 😉
