Come on mate, I copped flack for not rating Langford in the best 22 all pre-season and 2 weeks in the coaching staff think the same way. I hope he becomes a gun in the future just like we all do, but it's a good example of how my opinions are not always wrong :)

I don't 'hate Langford for no reason'. Because using that logic, Goodwin also hates Langford.
I don't think your opinions are all wrong. You said you would drop Langford but didn't elaborate in that post.

Having thought it about it some more it looked to me like Langford didn't have the fitness/pace to keep up, even though he was fresh. I don't mind if he gets some fitness and form in the VFL by playing full games.

I know a lot of people don't like Spargo, but I think he is one of our best kicks into the forward 50, an area we absolutely suck at. So for that reason I'm glad he is playing.
I didn't want him in due to the injury/fitness part. Been banging on for a few years now how bad our injury management has been and this stinks of it happening again. Doesn't mean he's going to re-injure it, more just rushing back players who are underdone. Not a fan.

Completely agree. Would be criminal if he comes in underdone and injures himself.

Or simply comes in and plays rubbish because he wasn't properly prepared. Sick of seeing the 'Goody's boys' selected no matter how cooked they are and then the coaches wondering why our transition defence was slow or our skills bad etc.

Rather AJ in so it means JVR stays forward, but I dunno I might be odd one out but I didn't mind some of the stuff I saw from Turner forward last year. Has decent agility, good mark, has some mongrel, and only Melksham was better than him for goal accuracy last year out of our forwards. I'm curious to see him get a few games and see what happens.

Couldn't agree more. What's he played, one and a half VFL games after a year off? With limited preseason?

Crazy how often we rush back role players after long injuries.

Hard to debut as sub, and he'll be a gun eventually - But the quarter he was on he made no impact at all. Looked lost and timid, which is not what you'd expect from him. It's not a massive surprise if you forget the build up and expectations IMO.
I must say I was excited to see him live. Disappointed he was sub, but he looked gassed the whole quarter. Didn't impact at all. Happy for him to build in the 2's for now. Normally I'd be raging over something like this but I feelits the right call.

Agree to disagree, I think he's bog average. Playing three talls is a bigger problem though, now we are fielding an event slower team than last week.

Yep, I would have loved Brown in this week. Woewodin is too vanilla, I'm happy to leave him and Billings out pretty much permanently. Spargo played on the weekend, but you'd think they wouldn't rush him again after last year.

Won't happen, but if I was going nuts I'd have Mentha coming in for Johnson and Sestan in for Howes, with the option to play Bowey forward.
I sense we are trying out youngsters atmo, with Picket, May, etc, out for the first month.

A good opportunity to test them out early, with a look thru the magnifying glass.

The brains trust know we are a little ways off the best, right now.

I think that's what the season will be about tbh. Development year.

And he might turn out to be a bog average forward, but I'm interested to see what he can do.

Ive got no problem with Turner playing AFL schmuttt , hes just at the wrong end of the ground and shouldn't be used forward unless we are down JVR and Fritsch. Goody has to keep that horrendous F50 structure though.

Its 100% the right call. If hes the sub ever again in the next 2 years fire Goody into the sun.

Yeah I don't think he's a shit back, just a shit forward.

Don't mind Turner as a player but just picking another tall to replace AJ means we'll again be far too tall up forward with minimal forward pressure.

That's never failed, right? 🧐

I agree, also just because he is tall doesn't mean he is a forward. He's definitely good enough to be in the team but I dunno crazy idea, play him in his natural position in the backline. You would think Petty playing his best game in years is proof in the pudding. 🍮
