I'm not sure he copes that well with the up and back nature of modern footy he looks completely knackered alot of the time to me.
I don't care how high they rate his tank he's a man mountain it takes a toll.

Whether you think Dixon has performed up to standard is subjective but what's unquestionable is that the past three years would have been colossally worse without him there.

On Game Day this morning Charlie confirmed something I have thought since mid 2016. He is blind as a bat. He wears month long contacts, is short sighted, when he was at the Suns he had trouble seeing the ball clearly, admits that he struggles a bit more at night games and before he got his contacts, he couldn't tell who was playing at the other end for the Suns.

He saw a doctor in Brisbane who helped him and he still visits and gets his contacts from.

It was obvious to me in mid 2016 especially night games, that he had eye issues as he continually got too far under the ball when leading and going for a mark. It happened too often for there not to be a problem.

He still gets under the ball too often still so it will be an issue for the rest of his career. He is worse at it at night games. Good thing the GF is a day game. Well for this year at least.

He should redevelop as a ruck in 2019 and port should recruit a kpf

Haha if only KPF's that are any good could come cheaply.

I reckon it's time for Dixon to wear glasses. Those big plastic industrial strength ones Kareem Abdul Jabar used to wear. You can see he doesn't read the flight of ball when he misses so many marks getting under the ball.

He really needs to figure out how to lead and stop running underneath the ball. Our movement is killed the moment this happens. This wouldn't happen with Schulz.

This. So much this.

He led beautifully last year. He found space in our forward line, and when he hit the ball it was with pace, momentum and ferocity. He knocked defenders over left and right and centre.

I miss seeing Port Adelaide midfielders lace up a fast leading Port Adelaide full forward.

I'm with sobrave on Dixon. Needed to flatten someone, didn't even need to be a suspendedable act. Not one Fremantle body hit the turf. Instead, a bloke got his jumper grabbed and he was pushed away with no more force than a bouncer removing a boisterous female from a club. Soft.

What I'd give to see a coaching panel who could see the potential Dixon brings and try to exploit it as much as possible.

If we had a coach who tried to work to our strengths as opposed to working to try and deny the opposition I think he'd be an excellent KPF.

He's always crowded by our continual grouping of all forwards, he hardly ever competes 1 v 1, he's meant to be everywhere apart from where he plays his best and that's deep forward.

Just watch our forward set up - thanks Mr Lade - they gather together and hardly anyone even tries to lead, they all just wait for the long ball on top of Dixon's head where every opposition side knows exactly where we are going to and it's a mangled mess of bodies and players fighting like an u/9's side.

Have a forward line that tries to create space for each other, tries to isolate the oppositions weakest link, use free players if the oppositions pushes numbers back, force the opposition to spread their defense to cover all options instead of blindly kicking to Dixon no matter what.

Dixon could be used so much better, as could many of our players.

Back the forwards to beat their opponents, back the midfield to beat theirs, back the defenders to nullify their direct opponents instead of this continual set-up where we predict we will lose the ball so better defend first nonsense.

Confidence comes from a belief in yourself and your team mates, believing you can and they can. Having a gameplan where you are more interested in preparing for them instead of concentrating on what we can do breeds hesitation, breeds reactionary footballers instead of pro-active footballers.

Set Dixon up to utilise what he brings to its fullest and he'll be a handful for any team in the competition.

He - like many others - are not being used to maximise what they can actually offer.

Dixon has had a piss poor year, no doubt about it.

What I will say is that our offence looked much better with Watts, Marshall and Dixon. Gave each other space and allowed us to isolate one of them. Unfortunately has happened, once his season.

The other aspect is that our best kicks, Motlop, Watts and Polec, have not been the ones delivering inside 50. These are the chaps we need hitting our forwards lace out.

perhaps we need to look in richmond, hawks and pies lists for who might be displaced for lynch

Doesn't take enough marks, doesn't kick enough goals. Gets pushed off the ball too easily for a man of his size. I thought last year's final would be the turning point and the moment he started to fully realise his potential. That has not happened, quite the opposite actually.
