Also he likes some of the same cars I like and I find his opinions agreeable (like Chev badges on Holden = yuck) so he can't be that bad.

Imagine if he'd learned to lead or told kernie bombing it on my head 100x a game doesn't work very well.

Played his best footy goalwise with the suns before even getting here in a much worse team.
He maybe did tell Ken this this year when he and Ken had the animated conversation in the Freo game he was spanked by Alex Pearce in, but still managed to help win the game.

Charlie was a fantastic player who was monstered by bad umpiring and injuries. I watch Curnow get free kick after free kick and think, if those sorts of things were paid to Charlie, he would've kicked 500 goals- 1000 if his ankles were sound.

Thanks, Charlie- you were a joy to watch in full flight.

Unfortunately undone all he did for this club with his disregard of us fans and the way he spoke in the media
"us fans" nah, keep the rest of us out of it he just told the spuds what he thought which was basically you've got no idea. I liked Charlie, it was time for him to retire but on his good days he provided some great grabs and he always had everyone's back. Thought he was a great back up ruckman at times and he often made the football look the size of a tennis ball. He made Adelaide his home, spoke well about mental health issues and appears to have cemented himself into the community. Onwards.

But he was wrong and the fans were right, Ken Hinkley sucks, that much is clear.

Having a crack at your own fans is bad enough when they're wrong, but when they've been right the whole time?

Silly. Massively tarnished his own reputation. Keep your mouth shut and you retire as a cult hero.

He was asked what he thought about a certain group of fans and he gave an honest answer. Total respect from me. He could have given some vanilla response but he basically told people to go and get stuffed as they had no idea. Loved it.

The answer was wrong, though. The fans were bang on and had perfectly reasonable concerns.

At least when Choco did it to Allan Scott he was right.

Which he has now been factually proven completely wrong on and those real fans have been proven 100% right. He retires with no success which is what the real fans were trying to avoid.

It shows that sometimes its harder to listen to those who are telling us uncomfortable truths, but there is value to doing so, even if its challenging.

Ah.. but... as a good mate of mine once said..approach enough women for ' favours' eventually you'll score, even if you have NFI about the art of seduction...

Factually proven completely wrong?? What? It was his opinion against your opinion?

Oh yeah, sure mate, it's the fans who said we'd continue to fail if we didn't sack Hinkley who are wrong it this situation.

No it was about whether Ken Hinkley could lead him to a premiership.

He couldn't. There is zero percent chance of that happening now. So those that said that were proven correct, and those that believed otherwise were proven incorrect.

This is what I mean by listening to an inconvenient truth. Those saying this were the ones that actually wanted success for him. They knew with a better coach and a better forward strategy he could not only have success but also protect his own body better. There is nothing I wanted more for him than to see him holding the premiership cup for Port and celebrating with fans.

The happy clappers and cultists that he instead chose to listen to in order to protect his ego never actually cared about him seeing success. They are only interested in dividing the club and creating a victim mentality amongst the players.

But anyway this is a total hijack of the thread. The reality is no matter who said what he gave his all out there and that can only be respected. I genuinely wish him all the best with whatever comes next (just as I did when he was at Port).

Hahaha what the ****

"Charlie Dixon said my mother was a whore, but I respect him for giving his honest opinion about my mother's sexual proclivities"

What's with all the 'he wrecked his body for us'

Between key forwards at Port

Lockwood was crippled with a bad back from a young age.
Tredrea couldn't even manage a brisk jog by his late 30s and won't be able to play footy with his kids
Schulz played a game with severe internal bleeding and went to the ICU instead of the plane back home for a week, and also is suffering with CTE.
Cummings got a bit fat and Hodges lost his glorious but understated mullet

Dixon just might be the one to finish career in the best condition.
