All good and well for him to say that , but fellow basket case sides like NYJ and Dallas have something our owners don’t have and that’s ambition and are prepared to pay for success
The Bears ? Not so much.

Wouldn’t surprise me if bears hire someone like vrabel if want a leader as coach.

Team will Be disciplined but offence will be bad.
You’d need a good OC with him.
I’m not opposed to vrabel but we must get the offense rolling

Apart from money the issue with someone like Johnson is hes a hot enough candidate to be able to have a say in who he wants as GM, if the Bears keep Poles around he'll feel threatened by Johnson and thus likely not want to hire him.

If he had interest last year and can only assume he would this year also. Still worry about the McCaskey's paying him what he will ask for which will be a lot. Thinking they'll go the cheap and cheerful Kliff Kingsbury route, hope im proven wrong and it is Johnson though.
The lack of money and dysfunction hurdles will always be a big hurdle as long as that family are involved

Might be why Warren all of a sudden is playing a more invested role in the selection too though.

I saw that press conference, seemed like Warren was the man taking charge of things and Poles had been told to sit there and shut up. Warren isnt a football guy though is he? Maybe Poles is on the way out the door?

I mentioned last week that Poles credits are running low now. If the next hire isn’t nailed he’s toast anyway

But again, this is like the keep a lame duck coach with a rookie QB shit that you always do, why would you keep a GM that there are massive questions on and let him hire a new coach after getting the previous one wrong? Its ****ing dumb. Poles wanted to stick with Eberflus this year when everything pointed to him being terrible. So not only did he pick the wrong coach initially, he doubled down instead of having the foresight to correct a mistake. He should be out on his ass. Clean house, new coach and new GM come in at the same time.

Keeping Poles would also likely put some coaches off the job, knowing he could be shown the door in the near future and they might not get the support of the next GM who comes in and wants to pick his own guy.

Bears had a very good draft and good off season acquisitions under Poles. So he did that part of his job well. If he got some help picking the next HC that would help him in future too learning how to pick good coaches. Remember, hes very young, first GM gig so he is learning still

Could of been better if they traded up for 4 or 5 for ALT that would be two generational talents instead of 1 and Rome.

Sure he would have been nice but with so many holes to fill it couldn’t all be addressed in one draft.
We need help in the trenches both sides both draft and in FA post season.

To me that says Ben Johnson wants his own choice of GM and isnt going to coach anyone who wont let him.

Couple of replies from that tweet....

This guy has never been a head coach on any level and he’s out here dictating shit? I don’t know I’m starting to think have fun elsewhere

He did the same shit last season, saying he wouldn’t take a job unless he was the highest paid head coach or some shit.. Arrogant, but kind of warranted based off how well he’s coached their offense

Best coaches all have a bit of cocky arrogance. That wouldnt worry me in the slightest. Hes proven himself year after year in the NFL as an OC, not like hes had just one year and defences have found him out or hes coming from college and you dont know what youre getting in the pros.

To me that quote is basically talking directly to the Bears.
Sort your dysfunctional shit out because I don’t need it or you

Not like Ben Johnson hasn’t been gifted some talent thru the draft and trade to work with that offence not like his making stars out of nobodies.

QB - Goff former 1st overall pick
RB - Gibbs 12 overall pick
WR - Jameson Williams 12th overall
TE - Laporta 35th overall
RT - Sewell 6th overall should of gone higher
C - Ragnow 20 overall

St BRown only star they drafted outside 2nd round.

Will Johnson have the same success with a different team that doesn’t draft well and also get a heap of extra picks from a Stafford trade.

This is stupid though cause you can easily say exactly the same thing the other way around, are these players the players they are if the dont have Jonhson as OC? McVay had given up on Goff lets not forget. Johnson made him a player again.
