Impossible. There is a global economy. Productions and profits operate across national borders.It'd be nice to have a major power that just stayed within their borders.
No imperialist power can "remain within its borders".
We are currently witnessing the "volcanic eruption of US imperialism" as it now seeks to reverse its economic decline by rediviiding the entire global economy in its own interests, by military means.
China is the main target of US imperialism, because the growth of China, and its advances in certain areas of technology (electic cars and critical minerals processing) are regarded by the US ruling elite as an existential threat to the continued stablity of the US dollar as a recognised global currency.
