I know I know, at least we can both be happy that Little Lleyton got a hiding :D.

Sharapova is the favourite but no certainty. I'm hoping either Ivanovic or Eliiiza's girl (Hantuchova) will win.

I really like Tsonga the Frogman's style, but I'd say whoever wins the Federer-Djokovic match will claim the title.

And then the NAB Cup is just around the corner! :thumbsu:

BTW what happened to BDP's modem? It ain't the same without his sex jokes in here. ;)

I like Ana. I was watching her today and I am happy to admit I would turn for her. Damn she is good looking!! Anyway, hope she wins. She seems like a genuinely nice person. Would be good to see someone win their first slam too.

Tsonga!!! Thats it!! Go Tsonga!!!! :thumbsu:

As for BDP, nah damn it, hes back. Sex jokes will come back soon im sure.

I thought you said you didn't like girls? Must've been too close to BDP and all his talk about threesomes. :p

Yeah Ana is hot, but so is Daniela.

This my friends is earth getting hit by an asteroid.
Earth you see here is green, the asteroid is aqua.
The asteroid is meant to pass by earth, coming within 1.4 lunar distances (384,000km per LD) away.
If earths gravity pulls the asteroid in, it will hit the southern hemisphere.
Enjoy making fun of me after Feb 1st when we're all still alive, if you're dead though I told you so.

:(

I don't know, but I'm ****ing scared because I got that info off the NASA website.
Otherwise I wouldn't give a crap.

Btw, I would just like to report BDP has been trying to get online for most of the night and hasnt been able to. He gave up approximately 9.31pm tonight and smashed his modem up.

Feel free to post unkind posts about BDP here and now.

He wont be seeing them for awhile. :D:thumbsu:
That makes me laugh soo much!!!

I don't think I'll be online much because I've been spending time with Craig since he moved down to Geelong, and also because my laptop has been displaying the blue screen of death and won't let Windows start. :(

OH GOD WE'RE GOING TO DIE!

Off I go to Singapore then.... Wait. It's right on the equator. Will I still die?

**** an asteriod the size of the southern hemisphere! I'll take my chance on it hitting a continent that no one cares about. It'll hit africa and one of the worlds biggest problem will be over.

Win win :thumbsu:

It's only 300m in size apparently

*shrugs*

I have a new cricketer on fb though, Nic Pothas. Not stalkable but a nice bloke anyway
Oh okay. I thought it was like massive.
I know what it's like, Brett Geeves isn't stalkable either.
He smiled at me too and I'm just like OMG, he has such nice eyes.
:)

Some interesting reads on the TU24 forums about this. Unsure what a lot of it means...but it seems some of the swivel chair "experts" think we may in fact be pretty ****ed.

I'll be pissed if it does wipe us out. Pay day is the 28th

Near-Earth Asteroid 2007 TU24 to Pass Close to Earth on Jan. 29 - Should be Observable with Modest Sized Telescopes

Don Yeomans
NASA/JPL Near-Earth Object Program Office
January 22, 2008
Asteroid 2007 TU24, discovered by the Catalina Sky Survey on October 11, 2007 will closely approach the Earth to within 1.4 lunar distances (334,000 miles) on 2008 Jan. 29 08:33 UT. This object, between 150 and 600 meters in diameter, will reach an approximate apparent magnitude 10.3 on Jan. 29-30 before quickly becoming fainter as it moves further from Earth. For a brief time the asteroid will be observable in dark and clear skies with amateur telescopes of 3 inch apertures or larger.

Given the estimated number of near-Earth asteroids of this size (about 7,000 discovered and undiscovered objects), an object of this size would be expected to pass this close to Earth, on average, about every 5 years or so. The average interval between actual Earth impacts for an object of this size would be about 37,000 years. For the January 29th encounter, near Earth asteroid 2007 TU24 has no chance of hitting, or affecting, Earth.
2007 TU24 will be the closest currently known approach by a potentially hazardous asteroid of this size or larger until 2027. Plans have been made for the Goldstone planetary radar to observe this object Jan 23-24 and for the Arecib

All those nerds at the tuf forums can suck my **** with their theories.

I know it's not going to hit the earth, but if the earth gravity pulls the asteroid toward us (which isn't expected to happen but still could) then we're dead.
Also, if the asteroid comes within 100,000km it still causes damage because that's enough force to break windows.
It's one of the closest and the most likely to kill us asteroid for a long time, but it's still a pretty far way off.
But how close did that picture make it look? :p

5 years isn't a long time. The chances of it effecting us are equal to the chances of you not having red hair. 0%

Hi everybody. I thought I would take this opportunity (Slow day at work) to introduce myself to all you wonderful cats fans.
I am a born and bred West Aussie but have followed the cats all my life and been a member for most of it, because my Dad is an old Geelong boy.

All my mates would say " How can you follow a Vic team when you are from WA" and call me disloyal and a traitor, but I would say to them "I'm not the one changing teams just because some blow in mob from here has started up".
Hey, welcome Newbie. :)

And I kinda know what you have gone thru. Growing up in Essendon, everyone was like "Why arent you a Bombers supporter??? Blah blah blah" In each instance I told them to **** off. :)

Anyway, welcome aboard!

Thanks everyone for the kind greetings. It has made me feel very welcome:):thumbsu:

It's not the impact or the gravity these people are worried about. It's if the asteroid has a negative charge, what would happen if it passes through the earth whateversphere (which apparently it is), which has a positive charge. Something about the two charges meeting could cause firestorms and stuff.

Either way, I slept well last night. So I mustn't be too worried.

I failed year 7 maths and I almost failed year 8 science. So I don't understand too much about negatives and positives. :)
